Get Paper Industry

Get Paper Industry Creating opportunities for underprivileged women through fair trade practices and handmade paper. There is waste water treatment plant to process waste water.

Get Paper Industry, A Hand Made Paper Products Cooperative, is a hand made paper and paper products making unit. It uses waste materials like cotton rags, waste paper, agriculture waste like banana fibbers, straw and water hyacinth. The production process is environmentally friendly and paper drying is based on sun light. Get Paper Industry is established as a hand made paper company in 1985 as Ge

neral Paper Industry. It used to use Lokta plant as a raw material. After building relation with The Body Shop in 1988, GPI learnt about the recycling technique from the Consultants of The Body Shop. It was with the help of Mara Amat and Sam Roddick, daughter of Dame Anita Roddick OBE and Gordon Roddick of The Body Shop International that GPI learnt about production of recycled paper and paper products. After learning about recycling technique, GPI became a fair trade supplier (that time known as Trade Not Aid Supplier) of The Body Shop International in 1989. As a result the number of people working in the company increased from 14 during 1989 to 117 in 1993. From 2005, GPI is constituted as a cooperative with all the staff as members of the cooperative.

Exciting Milestone: Our Seedling Farm Inaugurated!
To celebrate 37 years of partnership with The Body Shop, we launched our very own seedling farm—one of our most cherished projects! We were honored to have His Excellency Rob Fenn, British Ambassador to Nepal, inaugurate the farm.

With a steady supply of seedlings, we can now expand our tree plantation program to partner schools, doubling the number of trees we plant every year. A heartfelt thank you to Ambassador Fenn and the British Embassy Nepal for joining us in this special moment! 🌳💚

At GPI, we are driven by a mission to spark creativity and inspire people to think beyond the ordinary. Every year, we host a design competition where, for a day, everyone pauses their regular work to imagine and create innovative product ideas. While three winners are chosen each year, the real magic lies in how many of these designs—beyond just the winners—are brought to life in production. This not only celebrates creativity but also empowers our producers, giving them the opportunity to earn royalties from their own ideas.

This year, we were honored to have our dear friends from Australia—Laurel, Zack, and Debbie—join us as judges. Your support over the years has been invaluable, and we cannot thank you enough for being part of this journey of creativity and empowerment!

From breaking stones to breaking barriers!
In Mahadevbesi, where most families earn a living by breaking stones, dreams often feel distant. Yet Bimala proved that determination can shatter any barrier.
The first graduate from her community — supported by GPI since her school days — she’s a reminder of why we believe in the power of education.

To mark the 37th year of collaboration between GPI and —as it’s longest-standing Community Fair Trade partnership—we are proud to launch a project that is particularly close to our hearts. While we plant over a thousand trees each year, sourcing the right quality and quantity of seedlings has consistently posed a challenge. To address this, we are establishing a dedicated nursery within our factory premises. Known for managing all processes in-house, this initiative further strengthens GPI’s distinctive approach. This milestone celebration will be made even more special by the presence of esteemed guests who will join us for the inauguration of the nursery.

We distributed school bags with the message “Send your daughter to school” to 1,240 children across our six schools as part of our annual program. These bags are useful for the children to carry their books and also serve as a constant reminder to the communities to send their daughters to school.
