At Urjaplug, we are always looking for ways to improve our EV charging solutions and services. That's why we have a plan to implement a battery storage system in our charging stations, using recycled batteries from old EVs and other sources.

What is a battery storage system? It is a system that stores excess electricity from the grid or from renewable sources, such as solar panels, and releases it when needed. This way, we can balance the supply and demand of electricity, and provide more reliable and efficient charging services to our customers.

How do we use recycled batteries from old EVs and other sources? When EV batteries reach the end of their life in vehicles, they still have around 70% of their original capacity remaining. Instead of disposing or recycling them, we can refurbish them and use them for stationary storage applications, which are less demanding than vehicle applications. We can also use batteries from other sources, such as laptops and tools, which have similar characteristics and can be recycled in the same way¹².

What are the benefits of using a battery storage system? There are many benefits, such as:
