With ongoing supply disruption impacting plastic pipe availability, projects need certainty.

Concrete pipe delivers exactly that, readily available, locally manufactured, and designed for strength, durability and long‑term performance across stormwater applications.

For projects commonly considering plastic pipe, concrete may be a suitable alternative in 225, 300, 375 and 450mm diameters, helping reduce supply risk when planned early.

Our team can provide technical guidance and installation support to help assess suitability and keep projects moving.

With ongoing uncertainty in plastic pipe supply, many stormwater projects are reviewing material options.

Concrete pipe is a viable substitute for plastic in 225, 300, 375 and 450mm diameters, across all types of stormwater construction, when planned early and assessed against project requirements.

Plastic pipe sizes commonly specified in stormwater applications can often be replaced with concrete pipe in equivalent diameters, subject to standard design and installation considerations.

Our team can help confirm suitability and provide guidance on handling, installation, cover, access and methodology. We’re also happy to support customers with training to ensure concrete pipe is specified and installed correctly.

Talk to us today to plan with confidence.

Sustainable outcomes start with pipe material that lasts.
Concrete pipe supports long‑term environmental performance through natural materials, efficient installation and proven durability.

Concrete pipe is made from minerals sourced here in Aotearoa and delivers reliable performance for more than a century. Its materials can be fully recycled at end of life, helping reduce waste and support circular construction outcomes. With less bedding required during installation, concrete also helps lower transport needs and overall site impact.

Why concrete pipe supports smarter sustainability:
• Long service life reduces replacement needs
• Natural materials with low environmental impact
• Smaller installation footprint with less select material
• Efficient use of site‑won material
• Fully recyclable concrete and steel components

Concrete offers a practical and future‑focused solution for sustainable infrastructure across New Zealand.

Sustainable infrastructure starts with materials that work smarter on site.
Concrete pipe delivers practical sustainability by combining long‑term performance with efficient, low‑impact installation.

Concrete pipe performance is determined using AS/NZS 3725:2007, which guides designers to select the appropriate Load Class based on the loads acting on the pipe.
Pipes are then manufactured to AS/NZS:2007, ensuring they meet the required strength, durability, dimensional accuracy and watertightness.

What sets concrete pipe apart:
• Uses natural, locally sourced materials
• Requires less imported select fill during installation
• Supports the use of suitable site‑won material
• Reduces excavation and backfilling effort
• Maintains stable performance over decades
• Fully recyclable at end of life

Concrete pipe gives projects a smarter, more sustainable solution from day one.

Material choice matters for long‑life infrastructure.

When it comes to long-life infrastructure, how a pipe carries load makes all the difference. Concrete pipe delivers strength through its own structural rigidity, giving it reliable performance in demanding ground conditions and high-load environments. This built-in strength means it is far less sensitive to installation conditions, supporting consistent performance on every site.

Key advantages of concrete pipe:
• Manufactured to meet the performance requirements of AS/NZS 4058, including load‑class ratings for structural strength
• Performs reliably in challenging ground conditions
• Less sensitivity to bedding and installation variables
• Smaller installation footprint with reduced excavation
• Less imported select fill needed during install
• Made from natural, locally sourced materials that can be fully recycled

Concrete provides durability, efficiency and sustainability in one proven solution.
