Edge on Site | 125 The Strand: The grand unveiling

We promised a transformation, and today we deliver the final reveal. Our work with Serko at their iconic Parnell headquarters is officially complete.

Rather than starting from scratch, this project took a strategic approach, leveraging the existing structure and fit-out to create a workplace that respects the building’s heritage while positioning it for the future.

The result is a carefully considered environment that acknowledges the history of the space while responding to the changing ways Serko’s people work. Designed to support collaboration across teams, foster stronger connections, and provide flexibility for different work styles, the workplace is built to evolve alongside the business.

This project demonstrates how thoughtful design can bridge past and future, creating spaces that are both meaningful and adaptable.

A huge thank you to the project team and everyone at Serko for their trust, partnership, and shared vision throughout the journey.

The team has had a fantastic couple of weeks getting dressed up and celebrating the best of New Zealand interior design at the NZ Interior Awards and the Interior of the Year Awards.

A huge congratulations to all the brilliant winners and finalists, we loved celebrating with you! And a big thank you to all the organisers and incredible sponsors who made these Awards happen.

Meet the Team 👋🏼 Sharyn Donn, Design Manager

Joining Edge with 28 years of commercial interiors experience under her belt, Sharyn is a powerhouse of design management, CAD mastery, and senior design expertise. She’s shaped countless spaces across a large portfolio of all-NZ projects, bringing a wealth of knowledge to the team. Sharyn holds a Bachelor of Architecture, graduating back in 1996 when the degree took a solid 5 years (the equivalent of a Master’s today) and she kicked off her career with a couple of years in traditional architecture before finding her true calling in commercial interiors. If a project needs to be perfectly draughted, managed, or brought to life, she’s your person.

Outside of work, Sharyn has some very cool talents. For nearly two decades, she’s co-run a family business specialising in professional balloon sculpting and face painting alongside her husband and two daughters. Their skills even landed her and her daughter, Jenifer, on Three's reality show Blow Up back in 2023! 🎈

When she's not twisting balloon art, she is a self-confessed group fitness fanatic. Sharyn has been crushing gym classes for over 43 years, and the gym holds an extra special place in her heart, too; she met her husband at Les Mills, and his epic on-stage marriage proposal was televised on the 90s documentary series Inside New Zealand! To wind down from all that action, Sharyn is an avid reader who rarely breaks a daily reading streak.

Pink Ribbon Breakfast 🩷

The Edge Team did it again! We just hosted another successful Pink Ribbon Breakfast, raising over $1,200 in support of Breast Cancer Foundation NZ. Every dollar donated goes towards funding vital ground-breaking medical research, patient support, and education across the country.

A big thank you to everyone who attended, donated, and wore pink to support a cause that hits close to home for so many of us. Together, we can make a real difference for Kiwi women.

A transformation is taking place at this iconic Parnell address.

There is a unique energy that kicks in the moment work begins. As walls come down and the layout takes shape, the project starts to breathe - the result of a collaborative process where design decisions are built together with our client, Serko.

Every action on site is intentional: we carefully dismantle only what’s needed, conserving existing elements wherever possible and reducing unnecessary construction waste.

It’s rare to see a finished space stay so true to the original design. This project is a testament to what happens when vision meets meticulous ex*****on.
