At Archboyd Pump Station in Mangere, the team has been fully engaged in a new water care project. The work will include bulk excavation of roughly 2000 cubic meters, temporary sheet pile retaining structures consisting of about 150 sheet piles between 6 and 9 meters long, holding back up to 3 meters in height. Crane working platforms have been installed, and general site setup is underway. Although the recent weather hasn't been ideal, the team’s outstanding effort has helped maintain the project timeline.

In late 2024 Kiwi Civil Limited was engaged by Fulton Hogan for the emergency works repair to a large complex slip on the edge of the carriageway along SH14 in Kirikopuni between Whangarei and Dargaville.
The site being on the edge of the carriageway also sits on the bank of the Wairoa river adding an environmental risk to the project also. We installed a 25m long piled cantilever UC retaining wall solution for the site. The wall was designed as 19 piles with a 3m retained height.

Recently we assisted March Cato in installing a new sewer line that connects to the Rosedale wastewater plant, and it's been quite the undertaking.
March Cato has been utilising tunnel boring to excavate tunnels underground and installing pipes within them.
They have also been completing open cuts by thrusting the pipe through the newly built underground hole created by the tunnel boring device.
Meanwhile, our team has been assisting by creating shafts and constructing pads for the heavy machines to go on, as well as helping with open cuts and supporting the tunnel boring machine as needed.

The main challenge we encountered was dealing with unpredictable weather,

In addition to the technical aspects of the project, we've also placed a strong emphasis on safety, ensuring that our workers are protected at all times. This has required careful planning, scheduling, and communication with local authorities to minimise any potential risks.

This new sewer line will have on the community by providing reliable wastewater management and reducing the risk of environmental pollution.

We're proud to have played a part in this essential infrastructure project.

The Kiwi Civil guys n girls have been working extra hard in less than ideal weather conditions lately.
So we thought it was time for a blow out after our monthly toolbox meeting on Friday morning.
We had a great time at Blastacars Drift Karts - Auckland. There were huge smiles on everyone's faces at the end. Well done Michelle, you're the champion! We will definitely be back again.

We recently undertook a challenging slip repair retaining wall construction project in Piha, which required us to employ our technical expertise and innovative problem-solving skills.
The first wall we built was constructed using the Redi-Rock system, which is renowned for its ability to offer superior stability and support, especially in areas where the ground is unstable. Given the inherent instability of the ground at the site, the use of the Redi-Rock system was a crucial decision that enabled us to provide a solid façade with geo grid material tying the Redi-Rock system into the now stable ground.
The second wall we constructed was a UB steel wall, which presented us with a unique set of challenges compared to the Redi-Rock system.
To begin with, we had to employ auger drilling to create multiple deep holes for the UB beams to go into. Additionally, the site's limited space and difficult access made it particularly challenging for our team to manoeuvre and operate the large gear required for the installation of the steel UB wall. However, with our extensive experience and creative problem-solving skills, we were able to devise an effective solution to overcome these challenges and execute the project with precision and accuracy. As a result, the wall was perfectly aligned and level, providing an excellent and robust solution to the slip repair.

Time to catch you all up with our team's activities over the last few months. Here's the first instalment, more to come over the next few days. "It's been a wild few months here at Kiwi Civil since the massive flood and storm hit back in February. We've been working to complete emergency repairs across Auckland, and I have to say, our team has been absolutely killing it!

We've tackled all sorts of challenges, from clearing streams and repairing culverts to installing retaining walls and fixing slip repairs. We've had to use special equipment like spider diggers just to gain access to certain areas.
