PROGRESS REPORT…

Good progress on one of our current salvage and reclaim projects.

This site — formerly an ASB head office — still holds its training facilities and original infrastructure, so there’s a fair bit of historic infrastructure to carefully work through as we strip it back.

What stands out is the site setup. Clear HSE, well thought-out laydown, and the team keeping the site clean and controlled.

That’s what allows jobs like this to run properly.

We’re moving into one of the main phases now — bulk strip-out and recovery.

These types of projects aren’t just about removal — they’re about doing it safely, efficiently, and with a winning plan.

Enjoy the long weekend ahead team ✌🏾

Getting the foundations right...

With the winter months setting in, lighting was identified early as a key risk area — so the team got ahead of it, returning to the workshop early to prepare and load out temporary site lighting.

They’ve also adjusted the methodology of the staged works to better suit the environment and the controlled collection of salvaged materials.

Good to see the site team taking the lead and setting the standard — with further improvements underway, including additional temporary lighting (BTS) and lifeguard distribution units.

Looking forward to seeing the full install come together over the coming days.

Temporary works set the tone for everything that follows. Done properly, they reduce risk, improve productivity, and keep the job moving.

Project Update | Commercial Reclaim

Recent check in - the team at Railey-Williams is currently operating as Main Contractor in the controlled salvage and electrical reclaim of a vacant commercial facility.

This scope involves the safe isolation, removal, and recovery of existing electrical infrastructure - including lighting systems, cable containment, distribution components, and associated services.

With copper scrap and recycle values being at an all time high it just makes sense and allows a clean building footprint should redevelopment occur.

We're executing with a key focus on:
- Safety-first with LOTO protocols
- Verification & full isolation procedures
- Methodical decommissioning to protect remaining infrastructure
- Material recovery & sustainability, ensuring reusable components are salvaged where practical
- Clean, structured site progression to support the next phase of works

These types of projects require a disciplined approach - balancing efficiency, safety, and commercial awareness to maximise value for the client.

Good progress to date, with the team executing cleanly and on programme.

If you’ve got similar projects coming up - whether it’s reclaim, strip-out, or full electrical scope - feel free to reach out.

14.01.2026 — We said farewell to a real one.

From the very beginning of RWEL, Nala was always present — on the road, on site, and in meetings, quietly part of the day-to-day. For those who’ve been around, she’ll be familiar. In many ways, she was there before most.

After a short but aggressive cancer, she passed peacefully and with dignity.

Rest easy, mate.

LOUD learnings…

2025 has been a head-down, arse-up year at Railey-Williams Electrical.

Like many businesses, the year presented its challenges. As a growing business, it tested our management, our internal processes, and our culture - prompting more than a few moments of honest reflection. RWEL isn't unique in this setting.

What matters is the outcome…

The business met those challenges head-on, upheld its standards, and comes out of the year sharper, more disciplined, and better aligned as a team.

In the lead-up to the Christmas / New Year shutdown, the crew delivered a strong run of work - both domestically and internationally and across multiple sites. A solid way to close out the year.

A genuine thank you to:

1. Our team, for consistently showing up unwavering in support of the business, continuing to raise the bar. Special shout out to those continuing through.
2. Our clients, for your continued support and trust - sincerely, thank you.
3. Our suppliers and partners, who backed us when when down and when it mattered. Thank you.
4. The new relationships formed during a tougher market, and those who stepped in when conditions were challenging.

5. To the individuals who provided a sounding board when shared knowledge and support was called upon.

A special acknowledgement to Bremca Industries, Active Electrical, and J. A. Russell Ltd for standing by the team and ensuring our Tonga works were delivered without a hitch - you were called upon at a moments notice and delivered.

Pressure makes diamonds - and 2025 has sharpened us.

Enjoy the new year celebrations and wishing all a great start and successful 2026.

Watch this space… we’ve an exciting year ahead.

Railey-Williams is operating internationally this week, with Ben leading a small team in Tonga undertaking compliance auditing, power quality analysis, and the upgrade of several commercial distribution boards.

Wētā Coffee keeping the team fuelled for the big days ahead.

With many of the crew working right through the festive season — this is the well-earned holiday before the statutory break.
