A spiral staircase like this is all about getting the set-out right from the start.

With the curved steelwork and each tread working its way around the stair, everything needs to line up as it comes together. There’s plenty of checking, adjusting and welding along the way, because a few millimetres out early can make a big difference further around.

It takes time to get right, but the aim is that once it’s finished, all you see is a staircase that feels simple.

A serious bit of steelwork.

This helical curved staircase has checker-plate treads, a formed 12mm plate balustrade and plenty of fabrication involved to get everything sitting right.

A lot of work goes into a staircase like this before it’s ready for site and the boys in the workshop take real pride in their work

Spiral stairs look simple when they’re finished, but there’s a fair bit of work in getting them right.

From forming the steel to fitting each tread, it all comes down to good fabrication, careful planning and getting the details right.

Fresh from the painters, strapped down and ready for the road.

There’s a fair bit of planning involved in moving something this size without undoing all the hard work that’s already gone into it.

We always like towing these around. They turn heads!

A spiral staircase of this size takes precision and eye for detail. Every tread, curve and connection has to be right before it leaves our workshop.

There’s a lot of cutting, shaping and welding behind it, but the aim is that you never notice. You just see a staircase that feels effortless.

It’s a big piece of steelwork, and it’s coming together beautifully.

A serious bit of steelwork behind this one.

Building a curved stair like this takes plenty of time on the workshop floor — forming, welding and working every section until the lines are bang on.

Once it’s installed and finished in black, all that heavy fabrication turns into something surprisingly clean and architectural.

Solidly built, beautifully resolved, and a proper feature in the space.

A proper refresh for this old exterior stair.

We stripped it back, worked through the tired bits and brought the whole thing back together with new timber treads and a clean finish across the existing steelwork.

Nothing overdone — just solid materials, tidy detailing and a finish that suits the house properly.
