Welcome to the Institute of Refrigeration, Heating & Air Conditioning Engineers
The institute was formed in 1989 following the amalgamation of NZIHVE (the New Zealand Institute of Heating and Ventilating Engineers) and NZIRACE (the New Zealand Institute of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers). These original organisations had been operating for over 50 years in New Zealand. The institute

is well placed to meet the challenges of technology and continues to grow in membership. Strategic planning initiatives in 2004 and 2005 have resulted in the reduction in council numbers to allow for a more cohesive and accountable governing body.
