Feedback from our trades always means a lot to me because they see a completely different side of what we do.

They see the planning before they arrive on site, the communication happening behind the scenes and the little details we’re constantly checking along the way.

I genuinely believe a great renovation experience starts with having good people around you - people who care about their work and want the same outcome for the client.

That’s why the relationships we build with our trades are so important to me.

We’re all working towards the same thing: a project we can be proud of and a client who feels genuinely looked after.

I love the design side of a renovation, but I’m always thinking about what happens after we hand the home back.

A dark skirting board might work beautifully with a feature wall, but if every vacuum mark, shoe scuff or little chip is going to stand out, is it really the best decision for the people living there?

For this project, the designer Spin Design Ltd, Jerume from Paint Professionals and myself decided it wasn’t.

These are the little conversations I have on site all the time - balancing the look we want with what is actually going to work well in everyday life.

Because a home is meant to be lived in, not tiptoed around.

When people see a finished renovation, they usually notice the beautiful kitchen, the new flooring, the colours and all the final details.

What they don’t always see is everything that had to happen behind the scenes to get there.

The planning. The conversations. The sequencing. The problem-solving. Making sure the right people are involved at the right time.

That foundation matters just as much as the final look.

For me, a beautiful renovation starts long before the finishing touches go in.

One of the best times to bring me into a renovation is before everything has been decided.

You might only be starting to think about renovating, or you may already have an architect or designer developing your ideas.

That’s actually when I can add a lot of value.

My role is to help connect you with the right people early, make sure the different parts of the project are talking to each other and identify things that could become problems later.

I’ve seen how much harder a renovation can become when the right person is brought in too late.

A little more coordination at the beginning can save a lot of stress further down the track.

Wallpaper is such an exciting part of a renovation because it can add so much personality to a space.

But I’m always thinking beyond how something looks on day one.

Is it durable enough for the room? Is it a quality product? Has the wall been prepared properly? And is it being installed by someone who knows exactly what they’re doing?

That’s why our designers help source wallpaper that works for both the look and the way the home will be lived in, and we make sure the right trades are there to install it properly.

Beautiful is important. But beautiful and practical is even better.

One of the things I value most about working on the North Shore is the relationships we build along the way.

With our clients. With our trades. With designers, suppliers and the people who help bring each renovation together.

My role is to lead that wider process from the early planning stages through to the finished home — making sure the right people are involved, communication stays clear and the client always knows where things are at.

For me, that’s what an end-to-end renovation service should feel like.

Local people, strong relationships and someone you can trust to keep the bigger picture moving.

Bathrooms can look simple once they’re finished, but there are so many decisions behind them.

Where the storage goes. How the lighting works. What finishes will wear well. How easy everything is to clean. Whether the layout actually suits the way the family uses the space.

I’m always thinking beyond how something looks on day one.

The goal is to create a bathroom that feels beautiful now, but still feels like the right decision years down the track.

Thoughtful details. Timeless results.

One of the biggest things I want to protect my clients from is becoming the person trying to hold their own renovation together.

You shouldn’t be spending your day chasing trades, passing messages between people or wondering whether everyone is working from the same plan.

That’s why I put so much emphasis on getting the structure right before and during a project.

Everyone needs clear information. Decisions need to be documented. The programme needs to be thought about ahead of time. And the client needs one clear place to come for answers.

It’s not the part of a renovation you’ll see in the finished photos, but it can completely change how the experience feels.

A well-managed renovation should feel coordinated - not like another full-time job.

For me, being on site isn’t about standing back and watching the work happen.

It’s about knowing what needs attention, asking the right questions and making sure each decision still connects back to what the client wants from their home.

There are always decisions to make during a renovation - some big, some incredibly small.

My job is to help guide those decisions, keep everyone aligned and make sure we don’t lose sight of the bigger picture along the way.

Because good leadership on site should give the client confidence that their renovation is being looked after.

When I tell a client, “I’ll take care of it,” I mean it.

It means I’m following up, checking the details, speaking with the right people and looking ahead at what needs to happen next.

A lot of the work I do happens quietly behind the scenes — and that’s exactly how I want it.

My clients shouldn’t have to carry every little issue or decision themselves.

They should know there’s someone across the bigger picture, keeping things moving and making sure their renovation stays connected to the plan.
