This Matariki, we'd like to showcase a recent project we undertook for Angus Muir Design - The Tūhono Light Path in downtown Auckland.
It is an immersive ara toi (art trail) celebrating Matariki through light, storytelling and contemporary Māori Art. Stretching from Te Kōmititanga, through Takutai Square - Britomart and along the downtown waterfront to Te Tōangaroa connecting a series of city spaces.
Created by a collective of Ngāti Whātua ringa toi (artists) - Arama Tamariki-Enua, Caine Taihia, Uira Nahi and Maraea Shaw in collaboration with Angus Muir Designs - the trail draws inspiration from symbolism and journey of waka, exploring the ideas of movement, gathering and hītori (history) across generations.
This installation is on until 18th July, between Commercial Bay and Britomart.
Come and check it out!
