As engineers with expertise in air quality, we understand the concerns regarding the cost and complexity of replacing filters in fresh air ventilation systems. There is a substantial industry centered around the replacement and servicing of these systems. In some cases, the process is unnecessarily complicated, involving cutting through tape to disassemble the fan unit or dealing with cumbersome springs holding a plastic, leaky case together. These issues often stem from poorly designed systems that are manufactured cheaply and sold at high prices.

Filter replacements should be quick, simple, and cost-effective. When they are not, people tend to neglect this crucial maintenance task. Neglected filters can become breeding grounds for dangerous molds and fungi, directly contradicting the purpose of these systems, which is to improve air quality.

If you have not changed your filter in the past two years, it is advisable to turn off your system to avoid health risks. Additionally, if your manufacturer charges excessively for filter replacements, consider finding another company for this service. Remember, dirty filters pose significant health hazards and should be addressed promptly.

While these fans may look the same as any others. They are very different as they have to perform different roles.. One deals with odors, the other VOCs, and the last humidity. This autumn we finally got around to installing a ventilation system in our house, and it has made all the difference! (In classic tradie style, it took us years to get around to installing one in our own home 😄) I am very grateful to not have to wipe down windows in the morning this winter!
