It was a proud moment over the weekend to share Rakon’s contribution to the Chandrayaan-3 mission with Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Christopher Luxon!

During Prime Minister Modi’s historic visit to New Zealand, Rakon was one of a small group of companies selected for a private showcase with both Prime Ministers. The visit was the first by an Indian Prime Minister in 40 years and marked the elevation of the relationship between New Zealand and India to a Strategic Partnership.

Our Chief Executive, Sinan Altug, presented Rakon’s role as a practical bridge between New Zealand innovation and Indian scale. He highlighted our advanced research and manufacturing centre in Bengaluru, our longstanding relationship with ISRO and the precision timing technology that Rakon contributed to Chandrayaan-3.

Rakon products were on board the Vikram lander and Pragyan rover, providing precise location and timing references for their navigation systems. We also discussed how our wider capabilities support telecommunications, defence, positioning and AI data centre infrastructure.

Earlier at the business event, Prime Minister Modi invited companies from both countries to collaborate within India’s growing space ecosystem. Rakon is already demonstrating what that partnership can achieve.

This moment reflects the skill and commitment of Rakon people across every site and function. It is a practical example of what becomes possible when New Zealand ingenuity, Indian scale and shared trust come together.
