There is something incredibly rewarding about returning to a vessel more than a decade later and giving it a new lease on life.

M/Y Ab Initio, a yacht for which we originally designed and built the technology systems over 13 years ago, has just completed a major technology modernisation on the French Riviera, and the transformation has been remarkable.

The refit included:
- Crestron NVX IP-based navigation and video distribution throughout the vessel
- Full audio upgrade using Crestron DM NAX across every entertainment zone
New Glass Bridge navigation system for routing control and video to 8 navigation locations.
- Enterprise-grade Netgear AV network
- Ruckus Wi-Fi 6 with dedicated Owner, Guest and Crew networks
- Isolated AV casting environments between the guest, crew and Owners
- Roaming video social media credentials
- Upgraded Crestron control system with ETO iPad monitoring and management
- Integrated CCTV system including mast-mounted PTZ camera control

What makes this project particularly special is that we were able to retain the original cabling backbone while completely modernising the technology experience onboard.

Same yacht. Same foundation. A completely transformed vessel ready for the next decade and beyond.

We have delivered a fully integrated smart home for Liquid Automation, combining audio, video, network, security, and electrical systems into a seamless Crestron-controlled experience (powered by Liquid’s in-house programming, commissioning, and project management).

Audio distribution is available throughout the home, including the kitchen, media room, bedrooms, barn and gym. Sources include Internet Radio, Spotify, AirPlay and any device capable of playing audio.

Video distribution is optimised for accessibility. Sky TV, Apple TV, CCTV viewing and gaming inputs are available where needed, without the clutter.

Robust connectivity is provided by strategically placed wireless network points to ensure consistent performance throughout the home.

Security is fully integrated, with ICT utilising motion detectors, thermal and smoke detection and heavy-duty roller door reed switches all controlled from a single interface for simple management and peace of mind. CCTV coverage and installation have also been included.

What we’re most proud of isn’t just the projects, but the people who make them happen.

Each team member has truly contributed this year, whether they’re delivering top-notch work under pressure on site, building and prepping everything to perfection in the workshop, ensuring the details are spot on in design and documentation, bringing it all to life through programming and commissioning, looking after our clients with service and support or keeping everything running smoothly in admin and coordination.

It’s the little things that really matter. The early starts, the late finishes, the quick thinking when things don’t go as planned, the extra effort to make the result even better, the way the team supports each other and the pride everyone feels in doing things right. That’s what makes this team special and keeps Liquid moving forward.

Paragon Cup: Challenge Accepted. 🏆

Liquid Electrical got called out by Liquid Automation for the ultimate in-house rivalry, the kind where heroes are made and legends are written.

This round went down at Sweet Spot on the virtual fairways of Tara Iti:
👊 4-ball showdown with pairs of two from each company
🎮 Long drives, clutch putts and plenty of smack talk
🎯 Finishing under pressure with a nearest to the pin decider

After a fun (and for some, very long 😅) grind, Liquid Automation rose to the occasion and lifted the trophy.
