Our Sunnynook project is officially all wrapped up!

This has been a really cool project to follow, involving a full reclad of this 200sqm home alongside Reveal Building Consultants.

Bringing the home back toward a more traditional Kiwi aesthetic, the project features classic weatherboard cladding paired with corrugated roofing iron to give the home a timeless feel.

A great result and an awesome transformation to look back on.

With renovations, you never fully know what you’re working with until the job gets underway.

Sometimes that means uncovering issues that weren’t visible at the start, whether it’s damaged timber, something behind a wall, or parts of the build needing a different approach than first expected.

When that happens, our first step is sitting down with the client and talking it through. What’s happened, what the options are, and what makes the most sense moving forward.

The main thing is keeping everyone informed as things unfold, so nothing turns into a major surprise later on.

That’s why we don’t let clients budget right to their limit. Part of our process is being upfront early, so you understand the risks before anything begins.

We build contingency into the plan to reduce surprises and avoid stress later in the job. Renovations are unpredictable, and our job is to help you plan for that properly, not give you a false sense of certainty.

Our Parnell townhouse renovation has come with its fair share of challenges so far.

With tight access, limited street space, and the house being landlocked on three sides, things have been tricky from the start.

On top of that, the foundations have had to be redesigned, with the team working through clay that’s practically concrete, along with existing retaining walls.

It’s all part of the process at this stage, and the team’s been putting in the work to keep things moving.

We’re officially getting stuck into a new townhouse renovation in Parnell.

This project includes a full reclad, window replacements, three bathroom upgrades, a new kitchen, and a new patio courtyard area, along with an extended footprint through the kitchen, hall, dining, and Bedroom 1.

We’re currently in the foundations stage and making progress with the strip off. Next up, we’ll be pouring the foundations so we can keep moving through the next phase of the build.

We always recommend that the best way to start a project is by bringing the builder, designer and homeowner together early in the process.

That early collaboration gives everyone the chance to talk through ideas before anything is locked in. A design might look great on paper, but once construction and budget are considered it may need a different approach.

Having those conversations early helps avoid costly redesign later on and keeps the project moving in the right direction.
