Create an outdoor space you’ll love and be able to make the most of as the evening sets in.
Here are 6 expert tips to get you started on the right foot!
Think Ahead: Ensure you allocate a budget for lighting and start by planning your electrical layout before building and planting. This guarantees you have power exactly where you need it.
Visual Goals: What atmosphere do you want to create? Have you bookmarked magazines or created a Pinterest board?
Choose Durable Fittings: We highly recommend opting for high-quality, weather-resistant materials such as brass for garden lights. These offer durability and can withstand various weather conditions. Ensure you choose light fittings with high IP ratings to resist dust and water, crucial for durability in outdoor settings.
Lighting Types: Identify and spotlight key features in your garden to create focal points and add depth to the landscape. Consider the type of lighting that appeals to you. Use spike lights to highlight plants, bollard lights for paths, spotlights for trees, projection lights for decorative patterns, and LED strips for under stairs (see photo!).
Extend Living Spaces with Light: Use lighting to visually extend indoor spaces to the outdoors, enhancing the view from inside your home in the evenings.
Don’t Overdo It: A balance of lit and dark areas is key. We’ve found that maintaining this balance enhances the overall appeal of your outdoor space.
