River Road is almost ready to come out from under wraps...

The exterior plastering is done, there are just a few final paint touches to go, and then the encapsulation comes off.

Inside, the lining is nearly complete too - the transformation is really starting to take shape.

This project is more than just a second-storey addition — the existing home is getting a full refresh as well, bringing the whole house together as one complete renovation.

Not long now until we can show you what’s been hiding underneath.

375m² of concrete incoming… this one’s getting serious.

Our Te Miro executive build is well and truly taking shape.

The slab is almost fully formed, 5 steel columns are in position ready for concrete, and the under-slab plumbing is all in place.

Next up: underfloor insulation, pods and reinforcing steel — then we’ll be getting very close to pour day. 👊
A lot happening now, and plenty more to come on this one.

A lot can change in a few months…

Our Fencourt Road renovation is looking like a completely different property already.

Outside, the old barberry hedging, tired fencing and unwanted trees are gone — replaced with new post and rail fencing and Griselinia hedging, completely opening up the site.

Inside, the old kitchen is gone, walls have disappeared, the front of the house is being extended and the old carport is making way for another living area.

Same house. Same property. Completely different direction.

A big thanks to MDL Fencers, Cambridge Groundworks and DM Bobcats Ltd for helping us get the property to this stage.

Plenty more transformation to come…

Roof on. Windows in. Wrapped up. 

Our River Road project has hit a pretty satisfying milestone — the new roof is complete and the aluminium joinery is in.

Remember, there’s still a family living underneath all of this while we add an entire second storey above them! 

Next up: exterior cladding — and that’s when this transformation will really start showing its face.

From single-storey to something completely different.

INTRODUCING LEVI… AKA LEROY 🔨

One of the newest apprentices to join the MDB crew, Levi’s off to a cracking start — keen to learn, gets stuck in and showing plenty of promise.

Off site, he’s usually blasting around a motocross track, buying and selling anything with four wheels, or jet-setting around the country keeping up with a social calendar that’s apparently far busier than the rest of ours. ✈️🏍️

As for Leroy? Courtesy of the old Bad, Bad Leroy Brown song. The nickname’s stuck so well, he barely answers to Levi anymore.

Good to have you on board, Leroy. 👊🔨

It’s not every day you get to build a second storey while the family is still living in the house!

Our River Road Project is making serious progress with the frames up, trusses on, and the roof structure nearly complete.

Working under full encapsulation has kept the home protected while we build above it, but it won't be long before we can finally unwrap it and reveal the transformation.

Massive effort from the MDB Homes team and our subcontractors to keep this project moving while minimising disruption for the homeowners.

Stay tuned... the big reveal isn't far away.

Meet Josh...

Josh joined MDB Homes at the start of the year as one of our Foremen, and it didn't take long to realise we'd landed a good one.

He's a hard-working, smart operator who leads from the front and takes real pride in his work.

Having moved up from Taupō, he's somehow already found every decent café in the Hamilton. We're still trying to work out how.

When he's not building other people's dream homes, Josh's busy checking out open homes in the hunt for his own, or out on the mountain bike trails getting his adrenaline fix.

Josh is a great Foreman, though he can be known to be average at identifying the correct bin ♻️ IYKYK

Things are getting serious at our Fencourt project.

The excavators are on site and making quick work of the outdoor demolition!

Old concrete is being ripped out, making way for the new extensions, while tired fences and overgrown shrubs have been cleared to pave the way for a complete landscaping transformation.

This 1960s Huntly brick home is about to undergo a serious overhaul, and we're only just getting started. Stay tuned as we breathe new life into this property.

What a view to wake up to!

Mt Ruru, Mt Te Aroha and Te Tapui all on display from this incredible Te Miro build site.

Another great milestone this week with both the house and shed sand pads now complete and ready for the next stage.

A huge thanks to DM Bobcats Ltd and Phantom Earthworks & Drainage for the top-quality site preparation. Awesome work, team.

We can't wait to see this lifestyle build take shape with views like these. Stay tuned!

A retired double-decker bus is getting a new lease on life!

We're incredibly excited to be part of transforming this iconic bus into a brand-new library for Goodwood School – creating a unique space where students can enjoy reading and learning for years to come.

This week, under the watchful eye of Mr Keane, the MDB Homes team, Josh and Luke ("Cheese"), are getting stuck into the flooring and ceiling of the old bus.

A huge thank you to Akarana Timbers for generously supplying the building materials free of charge. Your support is helping make this fantastic community project possible, and we really appreciate you getting behind it. 👏

Stay tuned as we share the transformation from old bus to an incredible learning space. We can't wait to show you the finished result!
