Another exciting project about to get underway.

This classic Huntly brick home on a lifestyle block near Cambridge is set for a full renovation and extension.

By the time we're finished, it'll feel like a completely different home — while hopefully keeping some of the character that made it worth saving in the first place.

Big things happening in Flagstaff, Hamilton.

We've recently started one of our more complex projects — a new ~45sqm second-storey addition built over the top of an existing home, with the family continuing to live in the house throughout the construction process.

A key milestone this week was getting the encapsulated scaffold wrap in place. This gives our team an all-weather workspace, while also providing protection and peace of mind for the homeowners while the roof structure is opened up and the new level takes shape.

Projects like this require a lot of planning, communication, and coordination to keep everything running smoothly for both the build team and the family living on site.

We're looking forward to sharing the progress as this one develops.

Our Hopehill Lane project is starting to hit that stage where everything begins coming together.

Roof is on.
Skylights are in.
Windows are installed.

And the Te Miro views out here are pretty unreal!

You can really start to feel how this build is going to sit in the landscape now — especially with those big window openings framing the hills from inside.

This one’s a little bittersweet for us.

This wasn’t just another project for MDB Homes — this was our own home.

A place we designed and built to suit the land, capture the Maungakawa views, and create the kind of lifestyle we value most as a family.

From long summer evenings by the pool to quiet mornings looking out across the hills — this home holds a lot of good memories for us.

Now it’s onto its next chapter, with new owners who are genuinely excited to call it home — and we know they’re going to love it just as much as we did.

While it’s sad to say goodbye, we’ve also got some exciting new projects lined up for our next chapter as a family — so it feels like the right time too.

We’re proud of how this home came together, and grateful we got to call it ours for a chapter of life.

There’s something special about working on homes like this.

This week, we’ve begun works to extend one of Cambridge’s listed heritage homes — a beautiful early 1900s villa full of character, craftsmanship, and history.

Alongside the extension, we’ll also be carrying out carefully considered interior renovations to help the home function for modern living while still respecting the character and detailing that make homes like this so special.

Projects like these require a different level of care.
It’s not just about building new spaces — it’s about understanding the original home and making sure every new element feels like it belongs.

We’re genuinely excited to be part of the next chapter of this property and look forward to sharing the journey as work progresses.

Big milestone out at Hopehill Lane!

Frames and trusses are officially up and the place is really starting to take shape. Always a good feeling seeing it come together like this after plenty of groundwork.

Massive shoutout to the team at Redman Hiabs for going above and beyond — working right through into the evening with us to get it done. That kind of effort doesn’t go unnoticed and makes a huge difference on days like this.

Appreciate everyone on site pushing hard to keep things moving. On to the next stage.
