⚒️First Year Building Apprentice Wanted⚒️

A J Oliver Homes is looking for a motivated first-year apprentice to join our growing team.

If you're a school leaver or someone looking to start a career in the building industry, we'd love to hear from you. Experience isn't essential – attitude is.

What we're looking for:

Reliable, hardworking and eager to learn.

- Positive attitude and enjoys working as part of a team.

- Takes pride in their work and wants to become a skilled carpenter.

- Drug-free and committed to turning up every day ready to work.

- Must hold at least a New Zealand Restricted Driver Licence.

LVL framing throughout the tiled area means a stiffer, stronger substrate that won't move over time. No flex, no cracked tiles down the track. Just good bones behind a feature worth having.

Level, plumb, and square is just standard work for us—even if the door isn't. 📐

Solid core Rimu is anything but standard, but it’s the only way to do a 1930s classic justice. Heavy as anything, zero room for error, but she's perfectly swung. 🚪

Getting the details right matters—especially when your client corrects you on the era of the house. 🧠

It would’ve been easy to throw a standard modern door in here, but keeping this 1930s character home authentic meant doing it properly. We sourced a custom solid Rimu replica to match the original 5-panel detail, and even hunted down identical vintage beehive handles from an op shop.

Doing it right takes a bit more effort, but the result is always worth it.
