Downer have taken delivery of a ZX360, and it is being used at the Tiniroto quarry in Gisborne. The excavator is spec’d with an elite quick hitch, wedge lock tilt and grab bucket and the machine has been fitted with cat walks. The ZX360 is primarily used as the maintenance digger for cleaning water tables, silt ponds and loading out armour rock. It also can be fitted with a breaker to reduce the oversize pile when required.

Daniel, Quarry Manager, mentioned that the ZX360 is reliable, exceptionally versatile for a wide range of applications and the excavator cab gives you a perfect working environment, very spacious.

Earlier this year Downer took delivery of two 30-ton Bell Articulated Dump Trucks and they are being put through their paces at the Tiniroto quarry in Gisborne. Downer uses the Bell Dumpers to haul blast rock from the extraction site at the top of the quarry down the 3km haul road to the crushing plant, then turning around hauling scalping by product back up to the tip head to be use for re-hab.

Daniel, Quarry Manager from Downer, says the Bell dump trucks governing system that controls the downhill decent is an awesome safety system and the angle control system to prevent tip off when the dumper is unstable is great. Downer NZ
