How often do we use schedules in both pre-construction and construction planning?
Do we hear delays and issues at the pre-construction stages, which get automatically transferred to construction stage of the project?
We have all heard this - Early planning for construction can make or break the success of your project.
D&S believes the important tasks in Pre-Construction is to plan, assemble, re-plan, schedule and coordinate the right professional team at the outset (planning managers (who is also a planner/scheduler), project managers, designers, engineers, clients, project control group, QSs, stakeholders, etc.).
There should be a comprehensive development of the master programme schedule.
The schedule should get regularly updated, tracked and coordinated by the planning managers to help identify and manage activities necessary to complete each task by its relevant resources.
Planning managers must perform regular follow ups in bringing the team together to help identify time, delays, scope, feasibility, cost, risk & opportunities, contingency plan with value engineering.
Remember: Planning is never over and must always be a continued effort throughout the project.
