Master Programme Template

Creating a programme schedule template for preconstruction; breaks down the work that needs to be done over various stages of the project life cycles and becomes useful to gauge progress at a glance.

Turning your preconstruction projects into a standard template helps our client to be more focus and well planned. Preconstruction involves tasks which are repetitive and different standardisation can be applied for various project budget bands.

D&S help create our clients preconstruction programme master template to help your Project Managers use programme to help them:
Manage work
Track their key resources
Track on time
Ensure design plans are near to 100% achievement (before going into construction)

Pre-Construction Planning

Developing schedules in Preconstruction planning plays an important role in getting all the stakeholders together.

D&S planners are schedulers and coordinators too, who connect all the stakeholders involved in early planning process.

D&S Planners work both ways in providing (as well as accepting/sharing) advise, knowledge, and education from past/similar experiences.

We help develop master control programmes and schedule, keep clients ahead through forward planning, educate on pull planning, discuss contingencies, and help identify constraints.

Pre-Construction Planning

We have identified that completing the planning before the project commences, is imperative to deliver the project successfully.

D&S believe one of the most important tasks in preconstruction is planning to prepare the time plan, coordination and follow ups.

We can help you prepare preconstruction time schedules (templates), provide coordination between multiple stakeholders, monitor and report each progress, and do regular follow ups.

How often do we use schedules in both pre-construction and construction planning?

Do we hear delays and issues at the pre-construction stages, which get automatically transferred to construction stage of the project?

We have all heard this - Early planning for construction can make or break the success of your project.

D&S believes the important tasks in Pre-Construction is to plan, assemble, re-plan, schedule and coordinate the right professional team at the outset (planning managers (who is also a planner/scheduler), project managers, designers, engineers, clients, project control group, QSs, stakeholders, etc.).

There should be a comprehensive development of the master programme schedule.

The schedule should get regularly updated, tracked and coordinated by the planning managers to help identify and manage activities necessary to complete each task by its relevant resources.

Planning managers must perform regular follow ups in bringing the team together to help identify time, delays, scope, feasibility, cost, risk & opportunities, contingency plan with value engineering.

Remember: Planning is never over and must always be a continued effort throughout the project.

Extension of Time (EOT) in Construction vs Liquidated Damages vs Legal Contractual Disputes.

Most construction contracts include clauses for time extensions. D&S strongly believes it is only through planning & programming that clients & contractors can have control on EOTs.

Assessing the information to its roots with supporting evidence of when & how the delay occurred including steps taken to avoid or deal with the delays (eliminate or minimise) is an important practice in EOT Management & Control.

Many construction companies lack the skills or expertise to use EOTs in their favour, this is where D&S steps in.

D&S believe ‘Do not wait & see’ regarding the impact of delay events – Plan it, Document it on a Programme, Regularly follow up to get contractual approval on time, Manage it & Control it to finish as planned.

D&S offers its specialist services on EOT Management & Control including Quantum Delay Analysis/Delay and Disruption services.
