- Development of diagnostics for autoimmune disease. This has focused on Crohn's disease, incorporating a novel biomarker that can be visualized, and is being used to assess disease states through varying stages of clinical treatment or drug development. The research pipeline includes diagnostics for other diseases including Multiple Sclerosis, Type 1 Diabetes and Rheumatoid Arthritis.

- Development of diagnostics for Mycobacterial diseases of animals.

- Utilisation of bioremediation techniques to stop plant diseases including Pseudomonas syringae actinidiae infections in kiwifruit.
