Home Construction

Home Construction Driving excellence and innovation in the construction of healthy, sustainable and quality homes for all. Home is not like any other construction company.

We operate in both commercial and residential sectors, building new homes, conducting repairs, renovations and insurance work, and undertaking large-scale commercial assignments across New Zealand. We pride ourselves on our ability to think outside the square, tackling challenging projects with genuine enthusiasm. Tenacity and a willingness to be held accountable for the work we produce underpin e

verything we do. We ‘own the outcome’, happy to stand behind the quality of our craftsmanship and ready to take responsibility should unforeseen issues arise. We operate as a team, united by common goals and driven by a desire to produce work of the highest standard. We have formed loyal teams who we trust to deliver the Home standard wherever they work in the country, this means our clients can trust us to give them results beyond their expectations. We don’t just produce exceptional outcomes, build great structures and deliver excellent service. Fundamentally we exist because we care about people and the environments that they live and operate in each day. We look after our people and those we work with. This is testified by the incredibly skilled and loyal workforce that Home employs. In the 2014 IBM Connexa Best Workplace Awards, Home was recognised as the Best Construction Employer across the country. In addition to this, Home is the first Construction Company in New Zealand to adopt the living wage over the minimum wage. We care about our customers and their needs, evidenced by our commitment to work on the most challenging projects, standing by our work and delivering consistently on our customers’ objectives. We care about our communities and their vibrancy, which is shown in the significant number of community organisations we sponsor and support with our time, resources and profits. It is our values and commitment to people that makes Home unique. This is what produces a superior result, every time.

Behind every successful project is a team making sure the details are looked after, and for Marilou, that means keeping the financial side of our projects running smoothly. Which is vital!

As part of the Home Construction finance team, Marilou specialises in administration and accounting, supporting project account management across the business. From tracking budgets and processing invoices to helping maintain clear communication between finance and project teams, she plays an important role in keeping projects organised and on track.

Marilou enjoys being part of a team that delivers quality homes and takes pride in the work happening behind the scenes to support our projects. For her, success is making sure supplier payments are made on time and client invoices are processed efficiently, helping maintain momentum, trust and strong relationships throughout the build process.

Her attention to detail and practical, solutions-focused approach make her a valued member of the Home Construction team. Thank you Marilou 👏

Really proud to see some of our Home Construction Christchurch carpentry team giving back to the community this week ❤️

The team got stuck in helping build a retaining wall for Cholmondeley’s new Flying Fox project, a space that will bring so much joy to tamariki for years to come.

For over 100 years, Cholmondeley Children’s Centre has supported Canterbury children and whānau by providing respite care and a safe, nurturing environment for tamariki experiencing family stress or crisis. The work they do in our community is incredibly important, and it’s a privilege to play a small part in helping create spaces where children can simply be children.

A huge shoutout as well to everyone else involved in bringing the project to life, including Cholmondeley, CLS Canterbury Landscape Supplies, White Fox & Jones, Trillian Trust, Joel Ornsby, Steve Gresty, Dave Stemmer, and all the volunteers and supporters behind the scenes.

Projects like this are a reminder that strong communities are built by people coming together 👏

Last night, we had the privilege of celebrating 15 years of Home Construction surrounded by many of the people who have helped shape this journey.

What started in the aftermath of the devastating Christchurch earthquakes, carrying out chimney repairs and essential remediation work, has grown into something far greater. Today, we have delivered thousands of homes and projects across New Zealand, helping provide safe, quality housing for people and communities who need it most.

It was special to share the evening with so many of the people who have been part of that journey. Our staff, build partners, contractors, supporters, and long-standing relationships across the industry. The conversations, stories, and laughter shared throughout the night were a reminder that none of this has been achieved through the work of any one person, but through a collective effort over many years.

There have been challenges along the way, as there always are when building something meaningful. Yet through every stage of growth, one thing has remained constant: good people standing together with a shared commitment to delivering quality outcomes for others.

Home Construction has always been the practical delivery arm of that mission. The foundations poured, the frames raised, the homes completed, these are tangible outcomes that have gone on to change lives for thousands of New Zealanders.

To everyone who has contributed to the journey over the past 15 years, whether you were in the room last night or part of the story at another point along the way, thank you. Your contribution has mattered, and we are deeply grateful for the role you have played in helping us get to where we are today.

15 Years of Home Construction. Hard to believe how fast that’s gone!

Since 2011, our collective efforts have led to more than 2,000 homes delivered across Aotearoa, with over 8,000 people now living in homes we’ve had the privilege to build. In total, that’s over $700 million worth of projects delivered, backed by a workforce of more than 190 people across our staff, contractors, and build partners, all working together to get the job done right.

As a result, over $30 million has been returned to support the delivery of more quality homes across New Zealand, creating real impact well beyond the projects themselves. It’s something we don’t take lightly, and it’s never been down to any one person, but a collective of talent, discipline, and commitment.

Fifteen years in, it’s the people behind the work that stand out the most.

We want to say a genuine thank you to every single person who’s been involved, big or small, across these 15 years. The effort, the care, and the pride in the work doesn’t go unnoticed, and it’s what’s made all of this possible.

We’re about to kick off construction on ten Homestar 6 homes here at Arbor Green in Rolleston, delivered for Kāinga Maha on a design and build basis.

The homes will utilise Formance structural insulated panels, alongside a range of energy-efficient systems to support overall thermal performance and airtightness.

As the build gets underway, the project will move through our 8 step delivery process, maintaining control across programme, coordination and quality from start to finish.

Keep your eyes peeled as we’ll be sharing key stages of the build as it unfolds, including panel installation and airtightness testing.

We’re proud to be handing over a major upgrade at Tasman Holiday Parks New Zealand Miranda, delivering a new leisure area alongside six premium family cabins.

The project was delivered within a live holiday park environment, with works carefully staged to keep the site operating while maintaining strong progress. A detailed traffic management approach ensured safe access for both residents and construction teams throughout the build.

The leisure area was constructed around an existing geothermal pool, requiring integration with specialist filtration systems and new service connections. With natural springs and a high water table across the site, construction was carefully planned and coordinated, including detailed investigation to locate utility connection points where existing records were limited.

The result is a cohesive space, with custom crazy paving, a bespoke water feature, and new boardwalks and curved decking that connect naturally with the existing pool - stunning!

Across the accommodation area, six premium cabins were delivered alongside a full upgrade of supporting infrastructure. The cabins were elevated significantly above ground level to mitigate known flooding conditions, supported by new drainage systems designed to manage both blackwater and greywater effectively. New roading and infrastructure installed as part of the works have already proven successful in reducing flooding across the park.

Delivered within a six-month programme, the project reflects strong planning and coordination across multiple workstreams, including adapting to new council processes and maintaining momentum through changing conditions.

Massive thanks to some of our key build partners involved in this project, working efficiently within tight timeframes:

Ground Build: Responsible for foundations, subfloor construction, decking, and piling.

Proscape Civil Delivered both soft and hard landscaping.

Twenty years of lifting the standard of buildings across Aotearoa is no small milestone. Congratulations to the New Zealand Green Building Council - NZGBC for the leadership and partnership that continues to shape how healthier, more resilient homes are designed and delivered nationwide.

For us, Homestar is a practical framework that sharpens design and delivery decisions from early concept through to handover, helping ensure the homes we build are healthier, more efficient, and built to perform long term.

We have seen this approach deliver real outcomes across projects such as Te Pākau Maru in Ōtautahi Christchurch, where Homestar 7 certification supported strong indoor air quality, energy efficiency, and climate resilience. The same thinking carries through at The Residences of Karamū, where Homestar 6 and 7 rated homes balanced affordability with durability and reduced carbon impact.

Across Aotearoa, more than 16,000 homes have now been built or are underway to Homestar standards. That momentum reflects a shared industry commitment to better-performing homes that benefit both households and the wider community.

For the families and communities who live in these homes, it can mean

- healthier indoor air
- reduced overheating risk
- meaningful lifetime savings on energy and running costs
- confidence their home is designed to perform, not just comply

For us as a construction team, it reinforces accountability. It keeps sustainability, wellbeing, and build quality embedded in the way projects are delivered, not added at the end.

Home Construction was proud to stand alongside the Tenzing Hillary Cup this year.

With over 1,500 people coming together, the tournament continues to be a meaningful platform that celebrates culture, encourages youth participation, and strengthens community ties across Aotearoa. Our team had the privilege of attending both the opening ceremony and tournament weekend, witnessing first-hand the incredible mahi from the organising committee and the positive impact this event has year after year.

A highlight of the weekend saw our CEO Paul, win the charity auction for a signed AFC jersey! How good! A piece we’ll be proudly displaying in our Auckland office in Onehunga. Even more special is knowing the funds raised are supporting a good cause and contributing back to a village community in Nepal, reinforcing the wider impact initiatives like this can have beyond the field.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to support events that invest back into communities.. Ngā mihi to everyone involved for another outstanding tournament.
