Mike Downs Contracting Limited was incorporated 18 June 1999. The company specialises in the management of a team of experienced and competent contractors to produce high quality, well managed urban street renewal and land development contracts. We have successfully completed approximately 100 urban street renewal contracts for the Christchurch City Council, 18 subdivisions for private developers,

major earthquake repairs on SCIRT contracts plus numerous driveways, tennis courts and commercial projects. The Company has an excellent network of resources, working with over 30 subcontractors to complete multiple projects to the required safety, quality, environmental standard and the specified timeframe. Sub-contractors are selected according to the availability of resources, specific job requirements and individual track records.

Stage 6 of Redmund Spur is now complete. Huge effort by all the team to get this finished. We would also like to thank the client Dan van Asch, the Engineers Fox and Associates and our many sub-contractors that helped to complete this contract.

Even though we haven't been onsite we have been busy at home preparing for Alert Level 3. We will be starting back on Tuesday 28th April and all of our sites will have implemented new Covid19, health and safety protocols. We want to ensure all of our staff, contractors and visitors are kept safe on all of our work sites.
We are looking forward to getting back up and running in what will be a new and challenging environment for us all.

UPDATE 11: Marine Parade Streetscape Siteworks
Where are we at:
Hawke Street to Brighton Mall
ยท The paving of footpaths between Countdown and the Mall has been completed.
Beresford St and Brighton Mall:
ยท Rain gardens, kerb and drainage completed on the Western Side.
ยท The excavation & prep work on the Western Footpath is complete & pavers are currently being laid.
ยท Median strip has been removed & road has been excavated.

What's Next:
Brighton Mall to Beresford St
ยท Excavate and prep for Eastern Kerb
ยท Footpath prep on Eastern side
ยท Start excavation and prep for pavers on southern side of Brighton Mall leaving pedestrian access
available on Northern side of mall.

Road Closure:
A full road closure will be in place on Marine Parade from Brighton Mall to the south side of the Beresford
St intersection including the carpark south of the library. The road closure will be in place from Wednesday
25th March 2020 to Thursday 30th April 2020. Please see attached map

With the great weather we are having I'm sure all the kids in the neighbourhood will be down checking out the refreshed playground area and new equipment we have recently installed at Paddington reserve.
