Some contributions stand out not only because of the work delivered, but because of the determination, initiative, and teamwork behind it. We’re proud to recognise two people who have stepped up, supported others, and continued to deliver when it mattered most.

Passionate People | One Team, One Waka | Find Better Ways – Saul Garner
Saul goes beyond his own role to support technicians across our regions, sharing technical guidance and helping solve challenges on live projects. He has also improved the structure and processes supporting our drafting libraries, creating lasting benefits for future projects.

One Team, One Waka – Glenda Elias
Glenda has shown incredible dedication while working as the sole structural drafter in her office. Despite the pressure, she has continued to deliver high-quality work, support the wider team, and approach every challenge with professionalism and positivity.

Congratulations — and thank you for the dedication and value you bring to Kirk Roberts!

Better project outcomes often begin with earlier conversations.

In our latest Kirk Roberts Update, we look at why multidisciplinary advice matters, how our Hamilton team is helping Waikare Marae progress its vision for a new wharekai, and when to involve a fire engineer in your development.

We also share how our partnership with the Keystone Trust is helping support the next generation entering New Zealand’s property and construction sector.

Good engineering starts with understanding what a project needs to achieve for the people who will use it.

For the whānau of Waikare Marae, planning a new wharekai means navigating much more than the design of a building.

Our Hamilton team has been working alongside the whānau to help turn their vision into a practical path towards construction, bringing together geotechnical, structural, environmental and fire engineering expertise along the way.

Through Denise Fenton, the relationship has also been about listening, understanding how the marae operates and helping the project team navigate some of the wider decisions that come with delivering an important community project.

It’s a great example of engineering being as much about people, collaboration and practical guidance as it is technical design.

There’s nothing quite like sampling whisky on a cold, miserable winter’s evening, especially in good company.
So that’s exactly what we did last week, bringing together some of our local clients and partners in Tauranga for an evening of whisky appreciation, conversation and connection.
We learnt a little along the way too, from peat and flavour profiles to distilleries and the stories behind what was in our glasses.

Bringing people together at events like this is our way of saying thank you. It’s a chance to connect with the people we work alongside, share a few stories and have a bit of fun.

We’re lucky to work with some great people across the wider Bay of Plenty, and evenings like this are a chance to celebrate those relationships outside of the usual project meetings and deadlines.

A special thanks to the team at The Barrel Room for hosting us and sharing their whisky knowledge, and for helping make the evening such a good one.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us. A great winter evening with even better company.

Innovation starts with asking, “What if?”

Led by Technical Leader Rui Li, who combined proven seismic principles with fresh thinking to solve a very real design challenge, our structural engineers developed our miniaturised BRB.

From concept to prototype and testing, the team worked through uncertainty, pressure, and complexity with technical rigour and collaboration.

It’s a powerful example of what happens when expertise, curiosity, and support come together, and when engineers are trusted to explore “what if?”

We're proud to celebrate a major milestone in our Ministry of Education Offsite Manufactured Building (OMB) project, delivered in collaboration with BUILTsmart over the past 18 months.

By manufacturing fully completed classroom modules off-site and minimising on-site construction requirements, this innovative approach reduces build time, improves efficiency, and delivers cost-effective, high-quality learning environments.

A recent trial lift of the classroom modules was a great success, marking another important step in bringing this smarter way of delivering educational facilities to life.

A huge thank you to everyone involved for their collaboration, innovation, and commitment throughout the journey!

It’s been a busy first couple of months for Dave Wright, our new Geotechnical Team Leader in Queenstown.

With more than 25 years of experience across New Zealand and internationally, Dave brings extensive technical and practical expertise to our growing geotechnical team. His experience spans a wide range of geological environments, combining strong technical consulting capability with a practical, hands-on approach to project delivery.

As our work across Queenstown and Central Otago continues to grow, Dave’s leadership adds further depth to the expertise and support we can provide clients throughout the region.

Queenstown Regional Manager Ollie says:
“We’re really pleased to have Dave on board. Queenstown is a busy and growing team, and his depth of experience, practical approach and leadership will be a real asset as we continue to build our capability across the wider Otago region.”

Great to have you on the team, Dave.
