After three plus years working on the Te Ahu a Turanga – Manawatū Tararua Highway project we are on our last week. Check out the video to see the Anchors, Shotcrete and MacMat that we have been working on. It's been a huge project producing a very impressive finish. You can see our team working on the final stages on Cut 28 at the 8 minute mark of the video. Will be a stunning highway once opened.

Mangamuka Gorge update: It’s been another huge month of work on State Highway 1 through Mangamuka Gorge as we celebrate reaching 500,000 hours onsite since we began work in February last year.

We’ve successfully completed slip A10 this month and we've also finished piling on slip A8 – this marks the end of piling for all 15 original critical slips. The only remaining piling work is on the slip from the bad weather in June this year, slip A47, which we expect to complete by mid-October.

Currently, six slips are fully repaired with three more set to be completed in the next two weeks. The remaining critical slip repairs are progressing well, with a staged approach allowing us to work on multiple slips simultaneously.

Multiple crews are working throughout the gorge to get the road ready for reopening. With piling now wrapping up, the team’s focus has shifted to finishing the anchors and road surface reinstatement. The anchors throughout the gorge are more than 70% complete. While the walls and partial anchor installations provide significant protection, long-term resilience requires all anchors to be installed and tested before a slip repair is marked as complete.

We remain on track to reopen the road by Christmas this year. Thank you for your continued patience and support!
