Welcome back to UC Robotics for 2026!🎉

We hope you all had a productive or relaxing summer, and to our new first years, welcome to UC!

For the first event of the year, we will be hosting an Information evening at 6pm on Wednesday, the 25th of Feb (this coming Wednesday) in the Robert Scott Atrium (first floor of the Mechanical Wing). Here we will talk in further detail about how you can get involved with the club this year, with a focus on our open Vex Robotics training sessions, leading into an open team for the next competition season.

A few weeks ago, we had the pleasure of running the Robotics Build and Fight Day!🤖

It was an awesome one-day event where 8 teams got to build a robot of their own design in the morning, and then fight with them in the afternoon.🥊

We hope everyone who attended had a great time, and congrats again to the winning team!🥇

UC Robotics Movie Night! 🍿🎥
This Monday the 19th join us from 7:00pm to watch The Wild Robot. There will be pizza and snacks so bring your friends along!
The movie will be hosted in e5 lecture theater.

This weekend (Sat–Sun), the FYP team is taking on the challenge of building a robot for the new competition — in just 3 days! We’ll be kicking off Friday 10AM–4PM and continuing over the weekend. If you’re into VEX and want to lend a hand, swing by and join the chaos.

In 2025 and the years following, UC Robotics is planning on making a final year project (FYP) based around the Vex U Robotics Competition. If you are interested please express your interest via the form in our bio.

The FYP is likely going to be structured as
Mechanical/Mechatronics FYP, but if there’s enough interest, we can look at getting Electrical students or other disciplines involved too.
The team will receive outcomes throughout the year through skills runs (matches without an opponent) which determine their worldwide skills
ranking. They may also receive awards at the National Championships which will likely be held during the summer break at UC. Due to the low numbers of Vex U teams in NZ, the team will most likely qualify for the
World Championships in America during April the following year. Attendance at Nationals and Worlds is not required to be on the FYP team.
