Been a while since we updated you all!
We’ve been flat out!

The Akaroa job is progressing really well now - we have the roof on with windows in! This job grew substantially since we took it on! We had to go back to the council for amendments at the end of last year (which held things up a bit), but we managed it well enough that it didn’t disrupt the process too much. We look forward to updating you all in the coming months with the final stages of this job, plus another job we’ve been working on in between. πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘

Akaroa update

We've been very busy over here since our last update! After removing all the linings downstairs, we discovered that nearly all the framing was ridden with borer and far from built to code. So after discussions with the engineer and the client, the most logical solution we concluded was to demolish the downstairs as well as the upstairs, and rebuild it all to code. (As we say - do it once, and do it right!) The clients’ long term plan was to eventually re-clad the downstairs and upgrade the joinery, but that plan has been pushed forward. Although it’s an extra cost now, it will be a significant saving doing it at this stage rather than trying to combine the new cladding with the old and making it work later down the track. The silver lining in all this is that the client will be provided with a holiday home that is fully built to code and well insulated. The framing downstairs is 90% complete and the first floor framing is well underway. πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘

Akaroa update:
The strengthening of the foundation is complete! It involved a lot of hand digging and some Kiwi ingenuity to get the concrete in the holes - as access on the hill is minimal, and it would have incurred a significant cost for our clients if we had to utilise a concrete pump in this situation. So we came up with a plan to get the concrete in place, and it went off without a hitch. We installed the ribbon plate and new joists at the basement level too.
Scaffolding begins next week and then we'll start the demolition process. πŸ’ͺ

Here we have a job we recently completed removing the faulty Taylor/Klass spouting system. Commonly used in the 80s and 90s, this system may have appealed to customers back then as it's aesthetically pleasing, but unfortunately it is prone to failing over time and causing major water ingress issues. We removed the system and installed new fascia and gutter, thereby eliminating any future issues! We'd also like to say a huge thanks to Mel Warren Decorators for another fantastic paint job! πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘

P.S if yourself or anyone you know have the same system, we are more than happy to come and do a free inspection and quote if replacement is necessary. πŸ‘

It's been a while since we filled you all in with what we've been up to, so here’s an update! We've been busy working on lots of small jobs and we’re also in the beginning stages of our next bigger project which we will get stuck into properly very soon …so watch this space! πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘

In the meantime, here's some custom-built automated gates and interlock fencing that we recently completed for a valued repeat client. πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘Œ
