Before the panels. Before the finish. This is the work that made it possible.

Our team manufactured and installed the balustrade frames at Parakiore Christchurch Recreation and Sport Centre. Large, heavy frames installed across multiple levels of the Atrium.

With limited access and tight tolerances, a spider crane was used throughout the space to lift each frame into position. Every install required precision, coordination and clear communication to ensure perfect alignment.

Once the frames were locked in, the compact laminate panels followed, transforming structure into the clean architectural feature you now see.

One of the standout features at Parakiore Christchurch Recreation and Sport Centre is the white router-cut compact laminate panelling used throughout the main entrance and stairwells.
Imported from Austria and supplied by Fundermax, the panels were selected for their durability, consistency, and suitability for high-use public spaces.
Working both architecturally and functionally, the panelling forms a key visual element while also acting as balustrading.
Installation was no small task. These frames and panels were large, heavy and installed across multiple levels in the Atrium. Lifted into place using a spider crane which required careful coordination and precision from the team to achieve a clean result.

We’ve just wrapped up our work at Parakiore | Christchurch Recreation and Sport Centre.
A major multi-year project for our team, and one we’re excited to start sharing more of.

Our metalwork features throughout the facility, beginning right at the front entrance with these custom black powder-coated steel seat backs, integrated with timber benches and designed as elevated viewing platforms overlooking the courts. Clean in form and carefully detailed, they help set the tone for the spaces that follow.
This is the first look at a landmark project we’re proud to have been part of, with more to come from Parakiore in the weeks ahead.
