Rats and mice will nest in anything - wool, polyester, fibreglass... this is difficult to avoid. Vermin will not eat Terra Lana or Knauf Earthwool however, because their teeth cannot cut through the wool fibres which get stuck in their throat.

Vermin can, and do, chew fibreglass down to a powder and swallow it. Modern treatment techniques used mean that sheep wool insulation resists any sort of pest infestation.
