About us
Shaw Contracting is an Auckland-based retaining and earthworks contractor. We specialise in retaining walls, light foundations, site prep, and earthworks across residential and small commercial sites.

The role
We’re looking for a builder or experienced hammer hand to join the crew. The work is varied. Timber retaining walls one week, boxing up footings the next, then site prep ahead of the digger. You’ll be hands-on every day, working alongside builders and machine operators.
If you’re keen to learn how to operate a digger, we’ll teach you. Our machines are on most of our jobs and there’s plenty of seat time available once you’ve shown you can be relied on.

What you’ll be doing:
• Timber retaining walls (post and rail, treated pole walls)
• Light foundations: boxing, setting out, pouring, stripping
• Site prep: setting out, clearing, hand digging where needed
• Earthworks support: backfilling, levelling, finishing behind the digger
• General labouring and keeping sites tidy and safe

What we’re after:
• Minimum 5 years experience
• Physically fit and happy to graft
• Reliable, on time, and takes pride in the work
• Full clean NZ driver’s licence
• Class 2 or any tickets (Sitesafe, first aid, WTR) a bonus but not essential. We’ll get you ticketed up
• Keen to learn the digger and grow with the company
