Premier Men Report- Darfield made the long trip north to Culverden and came away with a 35–22 victory over Hurunui. Taking advantage of a strong wind in the first half, Darfield edged ahead to carry a narrow lead into the break. They then lifted their intensity after halftime, scoring a flurry of tries to create separation. Hurunui fought back with a couple of late tries, but Darfield held firm to secure a strong win on the road.
Colts Report- The season kicked off with a trip to Little River to face Banks Peninsula in what proved to be a hard-fought opening clash. It was a slow start from our side, with Banks Peninsula applying early pressure and setting the tempo through the first half. However, around the 30-minute mark, we began to find our rhythm, working our way back into the contest and heading into the break with growing confidence.
The second half turned into a nail-biter, with both teams trading momentum in a tightly contested battle. Unfortunately, Banks Peninsula edged ahead in the final few minutes to claim a 29–26 win. While the result didn’t go our way, there were plenty of positives to take from the performance—a solid foundation to build on as we look ahead to the rest of the season.
