Meet the Team | Jason – Head of Renovation Division

This week we’re shining the spotlight on Jason, who leads Drum Construction’s Renovation Division. With over three decades in the building industry, Jason brings a wealth of experience and a true passion for the craft.

After time spent working in a factory, Jason knew he wanted more from his career, which led him back to polytech to study pre-trade carpentry and ultimately into the building industry. A decision that’s clearly paid off!

What Jason enjoys most about construction is the people, and it shows in the way he works with clients and teams alike. Known as our resident “reno master,” Jason specialises in reviving spaces, giving existing buildings a second life, and turning tired structures into something new again.
We’re proud to have Jason leading renovations at Drum Construction.

Everything about this build is oversized! Beams, lintels, and rafters spanning up to 8.3m to form a high pitch ceiling that captures natural light and those beachside views. We’ve added ventilation battens to the skillion roof to keep airflow up and mould, moisture, and condensation down. A detail that matters more than ever with NZ’s increased R-values.

The Drum reno division completed this stunning remodel recently, championing open spaces, natural light and a welcoming vibe.
The team were faced with a fair bit of borer, but we had the right boys on the job, they love a challenge!

Project McKellar wrapped up back in 2020, one of the many builds Mike completed while living in Queenstown. Standing proud overlooking scenic Jacks Point, this build definitely makes its presence known. The high end architectural design featured beautiful finishes like its soaring cathedral ceiling, letting in an abundance of natural light. What a great project for the Queenstown team!

Not long after McKellar he made the move to Dunedin and has since grown Drum Construction into the strong, experienced team it is today!

Piles are in and the boys are flying into bearers and joists, shaping up the footprint of the house. Designed to maximise floor space on the section and elevated to make the most of Karitane’s beachside views. Swipe to the end to see how incredible the view is from the finished floor height 🙌🏽
