Robert Caldana Builder Ltd is a West Coast based family business which thrives on perfection – but mostly we thrive on the satisfaction of our customers. As part of our attention to quality and detail, we have enjoyed a long and trustworthy relationship with the Master Builders’ Association, Master Painters New Zealand Association and Local Grey District Council and Building Inspectors. Operating since 1995, we have built our company up to employing qualified carpenters, qualified painters and interior plasters and a cleaner, with a wide field of sub contractors. Wood burners are a common means of heating and a correctly used modern wood burner will heat a home with few emissions 🔥

An older or poorly used wood burner can cause smoke and air pollution. This can cause adverse health effects for you and those around you 🤧

Here are some tips on keeping your fire burning efficiently 👍

- Only burn dry, well-seasoned wood that has been split properly.

- Don’t use wood that has been rained on or is damp.

- Only start the fire with paper, dry kindling or commercial fire lighters.

- Burn fires bright and hot. A smouldering fire creates more smoke and less heat.

- Regularly remove ashes from the burner or fireplace.

- If the glass front of your woodburner is coated with ‘gunk’, it means you are not burning your fire hot enough.

- If your woodburner is smoking excessively, get it checked.

- After starting the fire, leave the air controls open for at least 30 minutes.

- Don’t bank up the fire overnight. Keep a supply of kindling handy to re-start the fire in the morning.

- Don’t put a full load of wood into a domestic fire when there are only a few glowing embers.

- Don’t burn treated or painted timber, particle board, chipboard, hardwood and fibreboard or plywood.

- Don’t burn domestic rubbish, glossy paper or magazines and wrappers in your
fire.

Aim to produce little or no smoke from your chimney and be a good neighbour 💯

The new replacement signage for Greymouth Resene Colorshop after taking a hammering from trucks/campervans over the years until it had enough of abuse. The new fascia fixed and prepared by Robert Caldana Builder Ltd , and new signage from us, with help from the legendary Ken for the installation.
