For businesses ready to scale efficiently, sustainably and strategically.
Tainui Group Holdings and joint venture partner Brookfield Asset Management has announced plans to develop seven new flexible warehouse units at Ruakura Superhub.
The seven units will offer new tenants to the Superhub a range of customisable and combinable choices from 1,000sqm to 4,500sqm of warehousing, plus associated canopy, offices and carparks.
The 3.5ha development site on the corner of Te Ipukura Street and Ruakura Road sits across the road from a number of food and dining options along with fuel and EV charging offerings.
Tainui Group Holdings Chief Executive Craig West said the development provides an on-ramp for a new generation of smaller and growth-oriented businesses to locate at Ruakura.
“These seven warehouse units will provide a new tier of accessibility to the Ruakura Superhub. At 610ha, we’re one of Australasia’s largest logistics and industrial hubs, but the Superhub is equally suited to ambitious operators of any size,” says Craig West.
“These warehouse units will be tailor-made to help ambitious businesses catch their next wave of growth among the global players and local champions who already call Ruakura Superhub home.”
The warehousing units, which total 14,560sqm of gross lettable area, offer generous office and canopy space, as well as over 100 dedicated carparks and over 30 bicycle parks.
The development is targeting a minimum 4 Green Star rating from the New Zealand Green Building Council.
They are expected to appeal to smaller to medium size businesses looking to upsize from their current premises and/or those that are offering complementary services to the existing and future larger businesses within Ruakura, as well as branch offices for national businesses.
The Superhub’s golden triangle location, adjacent to the Waikato Expressway, East Coast Main Trunk rail line and Ruakura Inland Port, provides multiple transport options to support efficient supply chains.
The location services around 45 percent of New Zealand's population, 42 percent of the nation's freight and 55 percent of the country's GDP.
The intergenerational project has future plans to expand the current 12ha inland port to its full potential of 30ha, connected via rail to Auckland's port and the Port of Tauranga.
In December 2025, Paris-headquartered Air Liquide opened a 9,000sqm industrial gases facility at the Superhub joining other global players Kmart, Maersk and Sime Darby alongside home grown businesses such as Big Chill, Refrigafreighters and Waitomo Group.
Construction is underway with main contractor Calder Stewart with an anticipated completion date in April 2027.
