They say a builder’s house is never finished... but this one is done ✅ 🛠️🥂
Living in your own job site is a different kind of challenge. It’s the late nights and weekends picking up the tools after a day on a clients job, the dust in your coffee, and the “temporary” kitchen that stays temporary for a couple of months too long.
But as a one-man band, this was the ultimate passion project. It was our chance to obsess over every detail and act as the most demanding client.
The Vision:
We wanted to create a space that celebrates the classic Kiwi lifestyle:
• Seamless Flow: A sharp, modern kitchen (designed by us, made and installed by KitchenFX) that transitions perfectly to the deck.
• The Details: Bold black cabinetry paired with crisp stone and hex-tile splashbacks (thank you )
• Functionality: That bifold window bar—perfect for a morning coffee or a cold one while the BBQ is going.
There is a unique satisfaction in knowing every stud, nail, and finish in your family home was done right by your own hand. It’s been a long road from the first ideas to this finished result, but seeing the vision come to life makes every weekend shift worth it.
The tools are (mostly) away, the “work zone” is finally a “home,” and I couldn’t be happier with the result highlighted in these beautiful photos taken by .
Now we are making the most of living in a finished home before the next project begins! 🏠
Special shoutouts to our Sparkys and plumbers for also giving up their evenings/weekends!
