A power pole on Rukuhia Road near Ngāhinapōuri has been hit by a vehicle causing significant damage. While thankfully there are no reports of injuries, approximately 125 customers remain without power supply. Our crews are starting the removal of temporary generation currently supplying power to customers in the Gillies Ave area, in order to restore network power supply.
To complete this work safely, a planned outage will be completed in stages that could take up to three hours. We have scheduled this work to minimise disruption as much as possible, and we thank affected customers in advance for your patience and understanding.

Working with our Northpower colleagues, soon we'll be carrying out drone power line inspections in the Maramarua area, as part of our ongoing asset inspection programme.

Drone inspections help us assess the condition of our network more efficiently and work is expected to take place between Monday, 3 August and Friday, 14 August, weather permitting.

During this time, you may notice drones operating alongside power lines. Your power supply will not be affected and all operations will be carried out in accordance with Civil Aviation Authority regulations and WEL’s privacy policy.

Network Fault – Huntly Area

We’re currently responding to a repetitive network fault affecting customers in the Bain Road and the surrounding area.

We’re currently working on an unplanned fault in the Hillcrest area. Due to the nature of the repair work, we anticipate having power restored to the remaining 250 impacted customers by around 11:30am. UPDATE 4:55pm - Power has now been restored to all customers impacted by the Nawton fault. Thank you for your patience and understanding as our crews worked as quickly as safely possible to restore network supply.

UPDATE 4:30pm - Our crews have been working hard and all visible high voltage repairs are now complete. We’re now focused on restoring power to the remaining impacted customers, with an estimated completion time of 6:00pm. If you’re still without power as the evening progresses, please call our faults line on 0800 800 935, as this may indicate a separate low voltage issue.

Crews are on site working to repair an unplanned outage in the Nawton area. We’ve restored power to around 700 customers so far, but due to the complexity of the fault, around 550 customers remain without power. We appreciate your patience and understanding while we work as quickly as safely possible to restore supply. We’ll provide an update once we have a clearer indication of when repairs will be completed.
