UPDATE 4:55pm - Power has now been restored to all customers impacted by the Nawton fault. Thank you for your patience and understanding as our crews worked as quickly as safely possible to restore network supply.
-------------
UPDATE 4:30pm - Our crews have been working hard and all visible high voltage repairs are now complete. We’re now focused on restoring power to the remaining impacted customers, with an estimated completion time of 6:00pm. If you’re still without power as the evening progresses, please call our faults line on 0800 800 935, as this may indicate a separate low voltage issue.
--------------
Crews are on site working to repair an unplanned outage in the Nawton area. We’ve restored power to around 700 customers so far, but due to the complexity of the fault, around 550 customers remain without power. We appreciate your patience and understanding while we work as quickly as safely possible to restore supply. We’ll provide an update once we have a clearer indication of when repairs will be completed.

We’re preparing for the period of bad weather cyclone Vaianu is forecast to bring this weekend. The expected heavy rain and strong winds may cause power outages.

If you experience an unplanned outage, please report it to our 24/7 faults team on 0800 800 935 and we’ll get on to it as soon as safely possible.

Treat powerlines as live at all times. Remember down means danger - if you see a downed powerline stay well clear and call us immediately on 0800 800 935.

Please secure items like trampolines and outdoor furniture and beware of vegetation (e.g. hanging branches) caught in powerlines, as this also poses a safety risk.

If you, or someone in your household is using medical equipment that relies on electricity, let your retailer know. If there is an immediate threat to health, please call 111.

Helicopter work on Kawhia Road

Due to a fault, a helicopter will be used today (Thursday 2nd April) to install new conductors on Kawhia Road. This area is difficult to access from the ground, so aerial support is required to complete this work.

Work will begin at 9.30am and is expected to be completed by 12 noon today. The helicopter will be flying low and will be operating in full compliance with Civil Aviation Authority guidelines.

Our pilot and crew will do everything they can to avoid disturbing livestock, especially farm animals and horses. However, if your animals are easily spooked, you may wish to take precautions, such as moving them away from paddocks near power lines or into a more secure area.

Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding while we carry out this essential work.
