Lest We Forget

In the lead up to this Anzac weekend, the SCL team has been working near the Rissington soldier carving - a memorial carved from a 120-year-old redwood tree that once marked the turn-off to Soldiers Settlement Road.

The six-metre sculpture shows two soldiers standing back to back, a digger in a slouch hat facing Sydney and a Kiwi in a lemon-squeezer pointing towards Napier. Rissington has deep connections with the world wars, with many local young blokes signing up to fight and land allocated to returned soldiers.

As we pause to remember and honour our ANZACs tomorrow, we're grateful to be part of the communities they fought to protect. The work goes on, but this weekend we stop and remember.

The SCL crew is back on site at Brooklands subdivision in Havelock North, picking up where we left off.

More sections, more infrastructure, same team.

Pretty hard to blend in with this rig. Keep an eye out for the SCL fleet on the move around the region.

HDC Gravity Sewer Project - Done

Just wrapped up 2km of gravity sewer main for Hastings District Council - Te Kaunihera ā-Rohe o Heretaunga .

Four massive 8,000kg manholes, strict environmental conditions around the creek, and 100% pass rate on all testing.

Another one ticked off for the region's growth.

Cheers to HDC and the team that made it happen.

We didn't have to do Benkelman Beam testing on the Mainfreight job, but catching problems before they happen is what 40 ...

We didn't have to do Benkelman Beam testing on the Mainfreight job, but catching problems before they happen is what 40 years on the tools looks like. One test picked up a sub-base issue early and saved us from surface failures later on.

Sometimes doing a bit extra is just how you do the job right.

40 years of know-how, now on paper

Congrats to Watling Kemp on completing the National Certificate in Infrastructure Works - earthworks, road construction, and road maintenance.

After 40 years in civil construction, Watling didn't need to learn this stuff - he's been living it. This certificate is just formal recognition of four decades getting the job done right across the region.
