SH2 WESTSHORE TO ONEKAWA - BARRIER REPAIRS

Plan ahead for a CLOSURE between the Prebensen Dr and Watchman Rd roundabouts on Sunday 7 June from 8pm-5am.

Southbound travellers are to detour via Meeanee Quay, Pandora Rd onto SH50 and Prebensen roundabout. Reverse if travelling northbound.

Crews will be carrying out barrier repairs following a crash on Saturday 6 June.

This work depends on various factors and may be amended or rescheduled at short notice. ^AP

Traffic controllers do a lot more than just stand with a stop/go sign.

They’re responsible for managing the safe movement of vehicles, pedestrians, and workers around active sites.

This includes:
• Monitoring traffic flow in real time
• Communicating with other controllers on site
• Adjusting to changing conditions quickly
• Keeping both the public and crews safe

It’s a role that requires focus, timing, and constant awareness, because conditions on the road can change in an instant.

Behind every controlled stop and slow-down is someone making sure everything runs safely and smoothly.

It’s one of the most common questions we hear, and the answer is simple: it’s all about safety.

Traffic cones aren’t placed randomly. Each one is positioned to create a clear, controlled environment around a worksite.

They help:
• Create a safe buffer between traffic and workers
• Guide vehicles through temporary road layouts
• Clearly show where it is (and isn’t) safe to drive

That extra space might sometimes feel unnecessary, but it’s there to account for real-world conditions like speed, visibility, and driver reaction time.

In traffic management, more space means more time to react, and more protection for everyone on the road.

Next time you see a line of cones, there’s a system behind it designed to keep both road users and crews safe.
