Thank you, Grey District Council, for recognising the care and passion that Wendy and Ethan bring to their work.

💛Three years ago, Wendy and Ethan planted about 5,000 daffodil bulbs, and the results are spectacular.

The Westroads contractors planted the bulbs in Dixon Park, on the railway embankment near The Warehouse, and on Turumaha Street. A weka got into the Turumaha bulbs, and they ended up relocating some of them.

Wendy, an expert gardener of many decades, said the daffodils should continue to multiply as the years pass.

They have even survived floods at Dixon Park. “They bounce back,” she said.

Westroads Limited is pleased to announce the appointment of Clark Butcher as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer.
A fifth-generation West Coaster, Clark is an engineer and experienced civil contracting executive with extensive leadership experience across infrastructure and contracting operations.
Westroads Board Chair, Mark Rogers, said the appointment marks an important step in the company’s continued growth and evolution.
“Westroads has a long and proud history on the Coast, and this appointment positions the company well for the future.
Moving to a CEO-led structure reflects the scale and maturity of the business today, and our ambition to continue building capability, performance and operational excellence across all areas of the company.”
Operating across roading maintenance and construction, utilities infrastructure, waste management, plant and operator hire, and broader civil contracting services, Westroads has continued to expand its operations and regional presence in recent years.
“Clark brings strong technical expertise, commercial leadership and industry experience, but just as importantly he understands regional communities and the importance of relationships,” Mr Rogers said.
“We are excited to welcome Clark and his family back to the West Coast.”
Clark is expected to commence with Westroads to align with the start of its next financial year.
The appointment follows a planned leadership transition for long-serving General Manager, Graeme Kelly, who will move into a dedicated pricing and procurement role from 1 July.
After nearly 30 years with the business, including decades leading the organisation as General Manager, Graeme will continue to play an important role supporting Westroads’ operations, supplier relationships and strategic projects.
“Graeme’s contribution to Westroads and the wider Coast has been significant,” Mr Rogers said.
“This transition is very much about building on that legacy and ensuring the company continues to grow from a position of strength. We are pleased to be both retaining and bringing home strong West Coast talent.”

𝟰𝟬 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗴𝗼…
The year was 1986. The NZ Song of the Year was “Slice of Heaven”, NZ’s cars were getting new licence plates with black characters on a white background, and a young man called 𝗪𝗮𝘆𝗻𝗲 𝗜𝗿𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 (known to everyone as Rambo) started working for a Borough Council, which became a District Council, that created a trading organisation called Westroads.
In 40 years, there aren’t many roads in the Westland District that Rambo hasn’t worked on or driven on. He’s also done almost every job you can imagine with the company, including street sweeping, rubbish collection, pothole repairs, digging holes for burials, and acting as the dog ranger, but now he’s more familiar to us as a talented driver and machine operator. He’s now passing on his experience and skills to new staff while still doing his daily role on our roads and highways.
Over his time here, Rambo has collected a lot of experience, learning lessons, and good stories. Just ask him how much damage one bee can do to a truck (but thankfully not the driver).

We are pleased to acknowledge Ben Radics on the successful completion of his study with Connexis to achieve the NZ Certificate in Infrastructure Works specialising in Pipeline Construction & Maintenance. He’s pictured here on the right receiving his certificates from our Greymouth Branch Manager Shane Hutchinson.
This achievement reflects his genuine commitment to professional development and excellence. He’s already signed up to Level 4 studies to stay on his water industry learning path! The knowledge and skills gained will further strengthen our Greymouth Utilities team and enhance the quality of service we provide to the Grey District Council and the people who live in the area.
Congrats Ben on this important milestone and we look forward to seeing the positive impact it will bring to Westroads.
