New Project Spotlight: Transforming Hokitika's Landscape with a Rural and Residential Subdivision at Lake Kaniere

Eliot Sinclair partnered with Lake Kaniere Developments to deliver a 9.3-hectare, 39-lot subdivision overlooking beautiful Lake Kaniere, Hokitika. This unique project combines spacious rural lots and residential sections.

From initial planning to final layout, Eliot Sinclair provided comprehensive services, including subdivision design, civil and water engineering, and surveying. Acting as a single point of contact simplified the process for our client, streamlining project management.

Through addressing the complexities of dual zoning and coordinating closely with contractors, our unified approach ensured a smooth, efficient outcome, bringing this stunning Hokitika development to life.

We're thrilled to share some fantastic news. Eliot Sinclair Hokitika office has been named as a finalist for the Development West Coast Leading Light Business Excellence Awards specifically in the ACC Employer of the Year Category. The winner will be announced at the awards function, which will be held at Shantytown in October.

Being named as a finalist is a milestone achievement and a testament to the hard work and dedication our whole team put in every day to support each other. It is the commitment of the entire company to creating a supportive work environment that has led to this recognition. Working as part of the larger Eliot Sinclair team, the Hokitika office provides our full range of services with local knowledge and relationships.

As a finalist we'll be welcoming a videographer to capture some of the fantastic work we're doing. Stay tuned to see what our teams have been working on.

We can't wait to join the rest of the finalists at the awards ceremony and we are looking forward to celebrating with Westco Lumber and Franz Josef Glacier Guides .

As a Licensed Cadastral Surveyor, Lynda brings over three decades of experience to the Hokitika office. After forming Coastwide Surveys, the largest independent survey company on the West Coast, over 25 years ago, Lynda made the decision to wrap up the business and join the Eliot Sinclair team. The move is substantial for Lynda but provides her clients with access to the whole range of development services Eliot Sinclair has to offer.

Moving to Hokitika on a temporary transfer in the early 90’s, Lynda has been involved in survey projects across the West Coast region and knows there still are plenty of areas left for her to explore. She works with a broad range of clients, specialising in sub-division and land use consent applications. Overseeing projects from concept through to completion, Lynda takes pride in helping her clients develop their land and realise their vision.

Lynda’s invaluable experience and relationships with local groups and landowners ensures each project runs effortlessly. She believes in utilising new technologies as they become available but cautions against the rise in personal devices with access to GIS systems for determining a boundary. Often decisions made on the back of these coordinates lead to more issues down the line and rely on surveyors such as Lynda and her team to fix them.

Running, tramping and bike packing allow Lynda to explore more of the landscape of the West Coast and Aotearoa. She’s ready to take on any surveying challenge throughout the region with the full support from the wider Eliot Sinclair team across engineering, planning and design.

Coastwide Surveys started in Hokitika over 25 years ago, and we have got to know many of our clients personally in that time. After more than two decades in business, we are excited to announce that Lynda, Murray and Leo will be joining the Eliot Sinclair whanau on the 2nd of April, where we will continue to provide the same great service that you have come to expect from us.

We’ll be at the same location in Como House, it will be business as usual and Lynda will continue to be the primary contact for our clients. We will continue to manage your existing and future survey projects on the West Coast.

We extend an invitation to all current and former clients, as well as former staff members, to join us for a drink and a chat at our office 4pm - 7pm on Thursday afternoon
