It's the self employed; small business; farmers, orchards and the like who continue to keep the Country going when those snout trougher highly paid bureaucrats take leave. Good on the real workers of New Zealand...as there are far too many in the regimes taking wrongly (it's been malfeasance & a disgrace to our forebears) as they involved have messed it i.e. treachery. 😄

Who has the most integrity...😁Thanks for standing by our Anzac family as ours died for this Country; we have our bill of rights and supposed "democracy"! but not!.... It is interesting that certain local fb groups block me (one of us many now with integrity) out!. and there is a mainstay for ex Mayor Pugh status or her crew who meddled! Shame!!..... latest is Ross Community fb page (of course they want $$$for cycletrail bridge$$$); before that Greymouth Ratepayers Assn (for my standing against $24 mil & iwi te reo named library); censoring is not on, we have freedom of speech, & I'd think those with so called profiles like JP's or Judges, legal would call the malfeasance!!!. - it seems to me that some won't stand up strong enough - so I do thank this facebook group for allowing posts which are controversial to those who are wanna be (nambey pambey who've sold New Zealand out!).

No time for complacency!. So CEOs signed off for a new CWL CCO on prelim 2024 information; they were given a years grace to get LTP in order 2025 (before end of June) and incl. LWDW; a handful of us opposed as this was complicating LTPlan! and on hand WE had our "waters issues file" they'd failed! and perhaps any CEO can be responsible for!. THEN new Waters Legislation Bill was instated 27 August 2025 which Councils (Local Authority) can do their own three waters... but since then and on CEOs / Mayors / Iwi overseeing appointments (and where is their compliance to do so ?) but when Section 57 and 82 of the LGA is deficient!. What a messy lot and now for some outsiders to take up waters roles according to them!!!. (paid well in the trough!). STAND UP WEST COAST BULLER... no time for complacency!!! our forebears didn't sacrifice for some other greedy buggars to come in here for their self $$$$grabs.

A long-time West Coast community advocate, Nana Anthea-Rose, has shared her concerns about the direction of local government, saying many of the issues facing councils today were raised by residents more than a decade ago.

Nana Anthea-Rose says that in 2012 she and other community members organised public meetings and campaigns during the time of former Westland Mayor Maureen Pugh’s council leadership. Their concerns focused on council spending, the growing role of council-controlled organisations (CCOs), and what they saw as a move away from councils’ core responsibilities.

The group used public demonstrations and campaign messages to call for greater accountability, questioning whether council structures were delivering value for ratepayers.

She says community advocates raised concerns about increasing bureaucracy, rising administrative costs, debt levels, and the need for stronger focus on essential services such as roads, water infrastructure, wastewater management and long-term asset planning.

Nana Anthea-Rose says she later stood for election to council, receiving strong support from voters, but claims those challenging council decisions faced resistance from some within the community and political system.

She also says the group called for local government reorganisation, arguing that having multiple councils serving a small rating base created unnecessary costs and administration.

The advocate has continued to criticise changes in local government, including the Three Waters reforms, saying councils should have maintained stronger asset management plans and focused on infrastructure needs before taking on new structures.

She believes local communities need a stronger voice in decisions affecting rates, services and the future of their towns.

The comments come as councils across New Zealand continue to face challenges around rising costs, infrastructure renewal, housing growth, debt pressures and public expectations.

Nana Anthea-Rose says the key message from her years of campaigning remains the same: local government must return to transparency, accountability and putting essential community services first.
