Some kind of grand scheme would be nice. Building the solar powered boat seems like a huge task as I stare into the empty hole that was once the cabin but I have a bigger plan in mind.

I could simply build ESPcat and cruise away into the sunset with my Honey. Come to think of it, that’s not a bad idea. But no; building just one ESPcat will not be enough. I want to look out on

the harbor and see dozens of ESPcats gliding around. So how am I going to accomplish all of that that?

Solar Powered Tesla – Winter Sun

Panels tracking the winter sun. With the sun heading for its lowest position in the sky, not only are the days shorter but the sun's intensity is reduced. In Auckland the sun is 25 to 30% weaker than its maximum in early summer. The 4 panels have a total rating of 1,760 watts. Solar Powered Tesla – Dancing in the Sun Those two solar trackers behind me are dancing in the sun like a pair of Olympic ice skaters gliding in perfect harmony as the sun moves across the Auckland sky. There are 4 solar panels total, each with a 440 watt rating for a 1,760 watts. Solar Powered Tesla – A Mistake Anyone Could Have Made

So I decided to expand Wattson's solar charging system. What I have so far works just fine but come winter when it rains regularly in Auckland, the system will struggle to keep up as rain will arrive more often. If I take a road trip, the twin 440W panels (880 watts total) aren't quite enough to allow Wattson solar powered Tesla to fully charge in a reasonable number of days....

We must not forget about one of the most important aspects of Wattson's Tracking Solar Charger; SAFETY! I am retired now but I was an International Registered Professional Electrical Engineer (INTPE). Although my professional registration has now lapsed, I am still a Professional Electrical Engineer and I take the whole "professional" thing seriously. Solar Powered Tesla – Second Solar Tracker

Wattson the Solar Tesla has been running on solar for 3 months now. Things are going well but there is just barely enough solar energy to power him. To give me a bit more leeway, I am setting about doubling the size of the solar panels by adding a second tracking mount with two 440 watt panels on it. With the additional 880 watts, Wattson should have all the power he needs with a bit left over....

Am I getting bigger or are PCs getting smaller! Thanks to our friends at Microsoft, I have to upgrade my computer systems because of the Windows 11 thing. My old computers can't be upgraded to Windows 11. I suppose it isn't all that silly considering my computers (plural) memory is running out. Like it or not, I decided to upgrade my Family Room PC and my Workshop PC to something new....

Everything is wonderful! Life has a new beginning! It's a new World! I am a changed man!........... OK maybe none of that is actually true but it is pretty cool that when the sun comes up over Waiheke Island, Wattson, the Solar Powered Tesla, begins to get a new day's worth of solar power.
