It’s official - Cohen Harrison is now a qualified electrician!

Completing an electrical apprenticeship takes years of hard work, learning and commitment, and we couldn’t be prouder of Cohen for reaching this milestone.

It has been great watching him develop his skills and grow into the electrician he is today. We’re lucky to have him as part of the Laser Electrical Kaitaia team!

Proud to be recognised at the Laser Conference Awards 2026!

This year’s Laser Advantage Conference was held in beautiful Fiji, with Darryl and Ella attending on behalf of Laser Electrical Kaitaia.

The conference provided plenty of opportunities for learning, sharing ideas and networking. It’s always a fantastic experience being surrounded by other Laser franchise members from across New Zealand and Australia, learning from one another and bringing fresh ideas back to our own business and team.

Of course, one of the highlights we always look forward to is the annual awards night! We were incredibly proud to be named finalists across five award categories:

We’re excited to introduce Robert Bird, one of our new apprentice electricians here at Laser Electrical Kaitaia.

Robert started with us through the Gateway programme at Kaitaia College, and his hard work, dedication, and genuine interest in the electrical trade quickly stood out. That effort has paid off with an apprenticeship and he’s already hit the ground running! 💪

He’s learning fast, has a great work ethic, and fits in brilliantly with the team. When he’s not on the tools, you’ll find him off adventuring off-roading and motocross riding

We’re stoked to introduce Jodi Posinkovich, one of our newest apprentice electricians here at Laser Electrical Kaitaia.

Jodi comes to us with many years of experience in beekeeping 🐝 and has now taken the exciting step toward achieving his dream of becoming an electrician. While he’s new to the electrical trade, he brings a stack of valuable skills from his previous work including a strong work ethic, a great attitude, and he’s already proving to be a fantastic member of the team.

Outside of work, Jodi enjoys fishing 🎣, riding motorbikes 🏍️, and spending quality time with his lovely family.

Far North Solar Systems and Laser Electrical Kaitaia recently came together for our joint end-of-year celebration, and what a great way to wrap up the year.

We enjoyed an amazing meal at Nui Bistro in Awanui (extra special knowing our team was involved in the electrical installations for this fantastic new restaurant). A big thanks to the Nui team for the food and hospitality. 👏
The night continued at the Awanui Pub, as always delivering great service and a welcoming atmosphere.

Most importantly, the evening was about recognising our people and the hard work they’ve put in throughout the year. Huge congratulations to our 2025 award recipients:

Laser Electrical Kaitaia will be taking a short break over the festive season so our team can spend time with their whānau and recharge for the year ahead.

📅 Closed from December 24th 2025
📅 Reopening January 7th 2026

If you have any urgent jobs that need to be completed before the end of the year, please get in touch as soon as possible. Space is very limited, but contact the team and we will assess if we can make it happen.

🔧 We will still have staff on call for emergency call-outs for our existing customers throughout this period.

Darryl has been an existing shareholder and diligently leading the Laser team for some time now and we are very excited to finally make this announcement. It’s a proud moment for Sharlene to hand over the reins of Laser Electrical Kaitaia to Darryl and Ella, who will officially take full ownership today - 7 November 2025.

Sharlene and her late husband Abe wish to say a heartfelt thank you to Darryl, our amazing staff, the loyalty of our customers and the support of the Laser Franchise, Far North community, suppliers, our kids, friends and family. Sharlene wishes to express her deepest gratitude to everyone who has been part of this chapter - whether you've been a customer, contractor, or team member. Abe is sadly no longer here to see his hard work, legacy and this chapter close however his expertise, customer service and friendly banter will always remain a part of what Laser Electrical stands for.

Congratulations Darryl and Ella, here’s to the next chapter of Laser Electrical Kaitaia — still local, still Laser. ⚡

At Laser Electrical Kaitaia and Far North Solar Systems we like to keep our Health, Safety & Wellbeing meetings interesting.. Think games, BBQs, the 'odd' cold one, and always a chance to celebrate the big (and small) wins.

Yesterday’s meeting was packed with achievements worth shouting about:
- Apprentice Mitch turned the big 1️⃣8️⃣
- Cohen smashed his final exams (just a couple on-jobs left – you’ve got this Coco!)
- First-year apprentices Mitch, Patariki & Rico all passed their exams (Just yr 2 Kade left to sit his next week 🤞🏼)
- Danya completed her Diploma in HR
- Craig upskilled with the SMA Preventative & Corrective Maintenance course – making him the only one in NZ with this qualification, now able to work on SMA inverters found on large solar farms 🌞

We’re incredibly proud of our teams – you’ve all worked so hard and achieved so much during such a busy time. Here’s to more wins ahead!
