🌟 Junior Lighting Design Assistant Wanted

Lighting design combines art, science, and technology to shape the appearance, ambience, and functionality of spaces. At 3D Lighting Design Ltd., we work across architectural interiors and exteriors, commercial, retail and sports lighting projects as well as daylighting compliance, and specialist consulting — and we’re looking for someone to join us on that journey.

We're seeking a Junior Lighting Design Assistant to join on a part-time contract basis. This is an ideal opportunity for a student or recent graduate seeking to develop skills and gain practical experience in a professional consultancy setting.

✨ What You’ll Be Doing

Preparing drawings, layouts, using SketchUp, AutoCAD and other industry applications.
Running basic lighting calculations (AGi32, Dialux, Relux, or similar)
Helping prepare technical reports and project documentation
Assisting with file setup, project organisation, and presentations

✨ Training & Mentoring

This role includes training and one-on-one mentoring, enabling you to learn how to apply lighting design tools, workflows, and standards in real-world projects. It’s an opportunity to develop your technical and creative skills under the guidance of an experienced lighting designer.

✨ About You

Studying or recently graduated in architecture, lighting, interior design, or engineering
Familiar with AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Microsoft Office (AGi32/Relux/Dialux a plus)
Detail-focused, curious, and eager to learn
Organised and able to manage tasks independently

✨ The Role

Part-time contract – flexible hours by agreement
Location: Remote-friendly, with preference for Auckland-based applicants
Start: Immediate or by arrangement

Went to have look a look at a recent project this afternoon; the new jetty at Raglan Wharf. Design comprises solar bollards along the footpath and jetty and area lights attached to the pontoon.
