I woke up this morning to power outages across the country. The storm had winds well over 100km/h and caused downed lines. Currently lines companies are reporting Northland wide power outage.
In contrast our customers running hybrid systems are online and charging. When the grid went down they automatically switched over to 'Off-Grid' mode. Their homes are still powered and running.

It is only two more weeks until the latest solar panel technology arrives in the Far North. We are very excited to be receiving a 40 foot container filled to the roof with our new 415 Watt Shingle panel.

These black frame panels use what is called 'Shingle Technology' to improve reliability and production output. As well as looking amazing in black, at 415 watts these panels are one of the most powerful panels on the New Zealand market.

Half the shipment is already pre-sold and selling very fast. Contact us if you are considering making a move to energy freedom in January. Costs are set to increase on 1st Jan be 6% based on Inverters and 8% on Panels. Orders before 1st Jan will be locked at current price structure.

I thought I would take some time to share some thoughts on the Christmas rush and the state of the current market.

It is almost the Christmas again and our installation slots are filling up very quickly. If your considering a pre-christmas install, we would recommend you reach out now so we can secure your hardware and book your installation time slot.

We can also see a clear trend in international stock availability and pricing from covid lockdowns. Ongoing border movement delays, combined with hyper-inflation and shipping issues globally are very obvious. Most in the industry are expecting a 15 - 20 % rise by February next year.

Rumour on the street is that a certain geo-plant may need to be scaled back in the future due to pollution levels (ouch). Obviously this will eventually impact energy costs across the Far North even further. These issues further strengthen the business case and reasons to go off-grid with a solar solution. So if your thinking about securing your families energy needs, talk to us today.

We have many ask us about larger off-grid systems for heavy energy loads in remote locations. The guys have been doing some long hours on our latest installation in Waipapakauri by 90 Mile Beach. It is one of our larger solutions from our 'Estate' product range.
This customers home involved several overlapping design requirements. The job was made tricky by the varied appliances including a 3 phase 6kW bore pump, multiple heat pumps, an induction cooktop, an electric oven, a domestic water pump and dishwasher as well as all the standard home appliances to plan for.
In response to these requirements the guys installed the system shown below. It uses three inverters for redundancy providing 15kW of 230V AC from a 60kW lithium battery system. Energy is generated from a 10kW monocrystalline solar array. For emergency backup we have an integrated automatic starting diesel generator for continuous operation regardless of the weather.

The 24 volt base system includes the following.
- 3kW Must inverter
- 2.4kWh BBS 100AH 24 volt lithium (LiFePO4) battery
- 1.6kW solar array using 4 x 400 watt panels
- Mounting rails & racks.

Some photos from a home starter solution the guys installed in Herekino last week. It involved upgrading the customer from an old 12V system. The move to the 48V 10kWh Lithium solution has dramatically increased the customers storage just in time for winter.

Recharging is from eight 400 Watt solar panels generating 3,200 watts of solar energy. The 5,200 watt inverter is powerful enough to run pumps, power tools and kitchen appliances such as toasters, small ovens, electric kettle.

Recharging the battery in bad weather can be automated with an autostart diesel generator. Installation took one day and the customer was able to use immediately that night.

Finishing touches going on a beautiful 7.2kW Solar Array for a great customer. The Monocrystalline solar array produces DC power that is stored in two 10kWh lithium batteries. These batteries then supply the two inverters. We went for a dual inverter solution for redundancy and increased power output. The solution can easily handle up to 10kW's of power draw. Easily running the customers two electric ovens and water pump with ease. An automatic starting diesel generator is integrated into the solution and provides peace of mind.
