BOOM π₯ It's already time for a ! Let's look at a windy challenge in the Remutaka Range with the Siberia Crossing Swing Bridge.
This 90-metre swing bridge was a significant project for the Edifice Structures team, especially because of the constant, high winds in the gully (the crossing is called "Siberia" for a reason...).
To build a stable structure that could withstand winds strong enough to push a train off its tracks, we installed eight pairs of cables running down to anchor points. This design was essential for the bridge's stability and safety.
Working with the Department of Conservation and structural engineer Ash Keyworth, we completed the swing bridge on time for its opening in January 2020 π
