We are 100% locally owned by the Electra Trust, for the benefit of all consumers connected to the Electra electricity network. Your locally owned company has distributed electricity to the Kapiti and Horowhenua region for more than 70 years. The Electricity Reform Act 1998 states that owners of a line network business cannot sell electricity and forced the separation of the two arms of energy supp

ly - the lines and the power itself. As a result Horowhenua Energy Ltd Directors retained the lines business and sold the supply arm including the meters. Horowhenua Energy Ltd has now changed it's name to Electra Ltd, the trading name of the company has been simplified to Electra and all shares continue to be held for customers connected to the network by the Electra Trust.

Finishing Friday off on a great note by celebrating and sharing our appreciation for our awesome Vegetation Team! 🌳

Recently, our vegetation team received some incredible feedback from a property owner in Levin after carrying out important tree clearance work around the network.

Led by Vegetation Supervisor Dwayne Pakau, the team was recognised not only for the quality of their work, but also for the care, professionalism, and respect they showed throughout the entire job.

From clear communication and practical advice, to working carefully around the property and leaving every area clean and tidy, the feedback highlighted the team’s friendly attitude, work ethic, and commitment to doing the job right.

The property owners shared:

“Their attitude over the two days was superb. Friendly, accommodating, and efficient was their base, and it made the whole experience superb. In our view, the work they did was well over and above our expectations.”

They wanted to make sure the team received the recognition they deserved and took the time to email in their complimentary views— and we couldn’t agree more.

At Electra, we know vegetation management plays a vital role in helping keep our network safe and communities connected, and we’re incredibly proud of the people out there doing the mahi every day.

UPDATE - 4.45PM: Our crews are working hard to restore power to the effected customers. The latest update is that it could be another 3 or so hours before power is fully restored.

We thank-you for your undestanding and patience as our crews work to resolve this outage.

UPDATE: The outage has been reduced to 48 customers. We will provide updates when information becomes available to us.
