Electra Electra owns and operates the electricity network in Kāpiti and Horowhenua.

We are 100% locally owned by the Electra Trust, for the benefit of all consumers connected to the Electra electricity network. Your locally owned company has distributed electricity to the Kapiti and Horowhenua region for more than 70 years. The Electricity Reform Act 1998 states that owners of a line network business cannot sell electricity and forced the separation of the two arms of energy supply - the lines and the power itself. As a result Horowhenua Energy Ltd Directors retained the lines business and sold the supply arm including the meters. Horowhenua Energy Ltd has now changed it's name to Electra Ltd, the trading name of the company has been simplified to Electra and all shares continue to be held for customers connected to the network by the Electra Trust.

Karebwa brings plenty of personality and a great sense of fun to the team! Making his debut at this year’s Annual Connection Games, he’ll be stepping up to a new challenge and getting the chance to showcase his skills alongside some experienced competitors. We’re looking forward to seeing him get stuck in!

Alyssa Havey ⚡Line Mechanic

Following in the foot steps of her older sister Madi, this is Alyssa's first time competing at the Annual Connection Games. Known for her positive attitude and enthusiasm, she brings both skill and a great team spirit to the crew. We can't wait to see Alyssa compete and show everyone what she's capable of!

Johnny Logan ⚡Line Mechanic

Johnny brings experience, grit, and plenty of technical know-how to the table. With several Annual Connection Games under his belt, he knows what it takes to step up to the challenge and deliver when it counts. His experience and determination make him a valuable part of the crew.

Joshua Pakau ⚡TEAM MANAGER

Josh brings years of experience as a line mechanic, strong leadership skills, and a great sense of humour that always helps lighten the mood. His experience and ability to keep the team motivated will make him a valuable support as our crew takes on this year’s competition!

William Moyes ⚡TEAM LEADER

Will is taking the lead for this year’s Annual Connection Games, bringing valuable experience, a can-do attitude, and a great sense of fun to the team. With his leadership and ability to keep the crew motivated, he’ll be a great asset as they put their skills to the test.

Kane Henderson ⚡LINE MECHANIC

This year marks Kane’s third time competing at the Annual Connection Games, but his first as a qualified lines mechanic. With his growing experience, technical skills, and ability to keep his cool under pressure, Kane is a valuable member of the team.

ANNUAL CONNECTION GAMES 2026 ⚡

We’re proud to share that Team Electra is heading to Pukekohe to represent Electra and the Horowhenua-Kāpiti region once again at this year’s Annual Connection Games!

The Annual Connection Games bring together line mechanics and cable jointers from electricity distribution businesses across the country to showcase their skills, put their expertise to the test, and build connections with others in the industry.

We’ve got an awesome team representing Electra this year, and we can’t wait to introduce them to you over the coming days as we count down to the event!

Unfortunately, repairs are taking longer than expected. Our crew are still on site working hard to restore power to the remaining customers as quickly and safety as possible.

We now expect power to be restored by approximately 5pm.

At this stage, we don’t have an estimated restoration time.
