Celebrating Gold and Silver awards for H2O Xtream Aquatic Centre and PSA House, 2026 Master Builders Commercial Project Awards

Always challenging to know how to acknowledge the many committed Maycroft teammates that make up the whole. By the time awards roll around, they've moved on to the next one, during construction or after completion.

So, we decided to acknowledge every single one of them by name. They're the Maycroft people who won these awards. Thank you for turning up every day, for moving our projects forward and bringing the customers’ vision to life.

Also acknowledging our wider project teams, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers and customers. Successful commercial projects are 100%, a team game!

Celebrating the wider spirit of the awards - to recognise collaboration and innovation across the building industry, as peers and friends. Great to see our NZ Construction Alliance Ltd (NZCA) partners achieving an excellent haul also! (17 in total!)

Thank you, Master Builders team, for the mahi you do to serve the industry!

From Gold to Diamond in 12 months!

Super proud to share our recent Toitū Enviromark Diamond certification following a successful audit of our environmental management system. Toitū Envirocare description says it all really:

“Enviromark Diamond is the pinnacle of environmental certification. It goes beyond compliance and best practices, positioning your business as a leader in sustainability. Achieving Enviromark Diamond demonstrates a commitment to exceeding global standards and leading the way in environmental management.”

We have a whole team to celebrate - from our Board and leadership team to our previous and current Sustainability Advisors (Hope Gilchrist handing the baton to Hendrik Prins in late 2025), through to the Ops crews on the ground supporting audits and the ongoing cultural and practical change needed to sustain milestones like this.

Enviromark Diamond certification builds on the momentum of our 2025 mahi - leapfrogging Bronze to achieve Enviromark Gold certification (the level below Diamond), alongside achieving Toitū’s Net Carbon Zero certification.

Together, these achievements demonstrate our commitment to credible environmental responsibility, effective risk management, and continually strengthening our alignment with best-practice standards.

Celebrating the Maycroft teams who were particularly instrumental in this achievement - our Central Office and Yard teams in Palmerston North, and the Taihape Area School Rebuild site team. Ka rawe!

Celebrating Mothers Day through one of our amazing Maycroft mums, our Brazilian Kiwi, Camila Bahia. Camila is our excellent People and Culture Advisor and much-loved mamã to 10-year-old Helena.

Camila and her whānau moved to Aotearoa 5 years ago for her husband, Luis job.

“I love being a mum because it’s a balance of teaching and learning at the same time, holding her hand when Helena needs support, while also watching her grow into her own independent person and celebrating her achievements. But most of all, I love seeing her grow up with strong values.”

“That’s one of the reasons I connect so strongly with Maycroft - the values of respect, integrity, and responsibility truly resonate with me.”

“Seeing her grow into such a kind and confident little person makes it incredibly rewarding and meaningful.”

Thank you Camila for sharing a wee snapshot of your motherhood journey with us! ❤️

Wishing the special women in our lives a very special day with their whānau! We value and celebrate you!

XV secondary school rugby kicks off!

Love these connections we have in our Hutt Valley hood - the historical home of Maycroft!

Its been a few years since we started supporting the Hutt Valley High School XV. The XV jersey presentation is always an exciting evening - whether you are receiving it for the first time or retaining your hard-fought spot! Congratulations to you and your whānau!

All the best for the year ahead and your game against Scots College tomorrow!

(Love that we're sharing space with Buildabody! A ‘refurb’ would be of benefit to a few of us.. 👀)

Smithy – celebrating a 43+ year legacy 🎉

Our team recently gathered in the yard to farewell Andrew “Smithy” Smith.

Fair to say, Andrew held almost every role at Maycroft! Bookending his tenure, he started as an apprentice in 1983 and finishes in 2026 as a Director and Board Member, as well as Construction Manager, watchman of our apprentices (“have you sharpened your chisel?!”), and, perhaps most importantly – the privileged role of ear and man of the Maycroft people.

The send-off was full of tall-tales and plenty of laughs! We were very lucky to have Maycroft OG Darryl Maycroft attend and share his memories of Andrew training under his tutelage, described “as one of the better (apprentices), we had” (alongside Grant Gunn! 😂) and the only one “I’ve ever seen turn up in a Toyota single cab ute, 4-wheel drive, that was spotless!”.

An incredible innings. His influence can be seen in the many pivotal Maycroft projects he delivered, as well as in the people and trusted relationships he built along the way.

Thank you, Smithy. Wishing you all the best as you crack on with your next adventures with Nic and the family. 🙌❤️

Credit to our Joinery team for Andrew's gift - a beautifully crafted ornamental timber chisel. ⭐

🏗️ Big milestone ticked off at the Carillon Tower seismic strengthening project in central Wellington — damper installation complete!

As our mahi wraps up, it’s great to see another key piece of the puzzle come together 🧩

Thought we'd share a snippet of the crew at work 👇

So what do dampers actually do?
Put simply, they help buildings handle earthquakes better. When the structure moves, dampers absorb and control that motion, reducing the forces on the building and limiting how much it sways. Pretty crucial in our shaky city 🌏

Huge effort from our team, led by Will Coard and Brent Henderson, + our project partners and customer, to reach this milestone 👏

🏛️ We love our heritage restoration work!

A big shout out to our Site Master, oops Manager!, Tony Malin, as he and his team wrap up their mahi over the next few weeks at 67 Hankey Street, Brooklyn, Wellington 👏

Constructed in the 1870s as a grand private home, this landmark has lived many lives - from family residence to wartime Army use, and later clubrooms complete with bar and billiards facilities. Today, it proudly serves as the national office for Te Kōhanga Reo – our valued customer on this project.

Tony conducted early investigations to assess the extent of work required across the 150-year-old structure and its 1980s extension. What followed was a full exterior restoration 🪵🛠️ including:
1. Reshaping and remilling weatherboards to match original profiles
2. Retrofitting new sills
3. Restoring and remaking sash windows
4. Deck and balustrade remediation
5. Joinery replacement and a full repaint

Maycroft Group's Joinery Division crafted custom doors, sills and detailed mouldings to retain the building’s heritage character.

While the project had it's heritage related challenges, problem solving was key! We love our work maintaining the historical landscape of our city and region and this one is proving to be worthy of its hilltop position with views of the central city!

Looking awesome team! 🙌
