Cavalier Transport Achieves OCS NZ Certification!

Congratulations to Cavalier Transport on achieving certification under the Operation Clean Sweep New Zealand (OCS NZ) programme.

Every site audited through OCS NZ is rigorously assessed against the standards outlined in our OCS NZ Guide. Certification is only awarded once those standards are fully met — whether that means repairing damaged drain covers, strengthening spill response procedures, training staff, or upgrading internal systems.

This is meaningful progress, backed by genuine commitment.

A big thank you to Mike and the team at Cavalier Transport for stepping up and raising the bar. It’s not always easy — but it’s essential to building a cleaner, more responsible plastics industry.

Your recycling doesn’t just disappear when the truck drives away.

Real people sort it.
Real people handle it.
Real people deal with the contamination.

So before you toss something in the recycling bin, take a second — does it actually belong there?

Contamination prevents good recycling from occurring.

Waste-Ed with Kate’s latest video is up!

This one focuses on the simple ways we can all improve recycling outcomes – preparing materials correctly before they go into the recycling bin. Small actions making a surprisingly big difference to what happens further down the recycling chain.

Another great video from Kate simply explaining the differences.

The number is only part of the story. For kerbside recycling, what we’re looking for is plastic food and beverage packaging from your kitchen, or items from the bathroom or laundry, labelled 1, 2 or 5.

Ever wondered what really happens to the plastics you put in your kerbside bin?

Join Kate from Waste-ed with Kate as she takes you behind the scenes, following the journey of #1, #2 and #5 plastics — from collection through to recycling, and how they’re transformed into new products right here in New Zealand.

Here's Waste-Ed With Kate and her next video about Plastics Recycling in New Zealand - What can't you recycle in your kerbside bin!

In her latest video, Kate breaks down the plastics that don’t make the cut in New Zealand’s kerbside recycling system — and why it matters.

As consumers, we have more power than we think. Every purchase is a signal to brands about the packaging we expect.

Together, we can drive better packaging choices and support a more effective recycling system.

Adept Ltd Achieves OCS NZ Re-Certification!

Congratulations to Adept Ltd on securing Operation Clean Sweep New Zealand (OCS NZ) re-certification - a clear demonstration of their ongoing commitment to preventing plastic pellet, flake, and powder loss into Aotearoa’s environment.

OCS NZ certification is only awarded once sites meet the full requirements of the programme, with audits covering everything from infrastructure improvements and spill response to staff training and operational systems.

This achievement reflects meaningful, practical action- and a genuine commitment to doing better.

A big thank you to Stuart Rodden and the Adept team for their leadership. Raising the bar isn’t always easy, but it’s essential for a cleaner, more responsible plastics industry.

Azelis New Zealand Achieves OCS NZ Re-Certification

Congratulations to Azelis New Zealand Ltd on successfully passing their Operation Clean Sweep New Zealand (OCS NZ) audit.

This re-certification reflects Azelis’ ongoing commitment to preventing plastic pellets, flakes, and powder from entering Aotearoa New Zealand’s waterways and oceans — turning intention into measurable action.

Every site audited through the OCS NZ programme is assessed against the standards outlined in the OCS NZ Guide, with certification awarded only once those standards are fully met. From repairing damaged drain covers and strengthening spill response procedures, to enhancing staff training and refining operational systems, it’s about practical improvements that make a real difference.

This is meaningful progress, backed by genuine commitment.
A big thank you to the Azelis team for continuing to raise the bar. It’s not always easy work — but it’s vital for building a cleaner, more responsible plastics industry.
