For as long as Earth has revolved around the sun, night has been part of life’s rhythm.

Now, a private company is proposing to turn darkness into a commodity—using satellites to reflect sunlight onto Earth at night.

DarkSky opposes Reflect Orbital’s proposal and is calling on our community to speak up. The night sky belongs to everyone.

This is the story of Matteo Paz, a high school student who revealed 1.5 million previously unknown objects in space using AI and old data from NASA. This is what happens when people like Davy Kirkpatrick, astronomer and IPAC (Caltech) senior scientist, gets involved with high school students. Over the last five summers activities, Davy Kirkpatrick has built passion and interest in science and technology in the local high school.
Congratulations to Matteo Paz for winning the first place prize in the Regeneron Science Talent Search and for his first paycheck of US$250,000!

Local high school student makes breakthroughs at Caltech.
