The roof is on! 👏

Another major milestone has been completed at PGC's new office and warehouse, with the roof now installed and the building really starting to take shape. The Colorsteel Maxam roofing was supplied by our new neighbours at Roofing Industries and installed by the team at Turfrey Services.

This is an important step forward for the project, as it allows us to move ahead with pouring the warehouse concrete floor completely undercover, keeping progress moving regardless of the weather.

To mark the occasion, our General Manager of Construction, Nick, caught up with Brad Turfrey, Managing Director of Turfrey, to talk about the project and what this milestone means for the build.

🎥 Check out the video to see the roof installation in action.

Our Bledisloe Road development, delivered in partnership with Kāinga Ora - Homes and Communities, is entering its final stages of construction. 🏘️

Last week saw the asphalt driveway and car parking areas completed across the seven-unit development, marking another significant milestone as the project nears completion.

A big thanks to the team at Topline Contracting Limited for putting in the mahi to get this stage across the line.

It's great to see the finishing touches coming together, and we're looking forward to handing over these much-needed homes to the community soon.

The five units at our Havelock North site are starting to come together, with the exterior now clad in Abodo.

💡 Abodo is a weatherboard made from thermally modified New Zealand plantation pine. Designed as an alternative to traditional timbers like cedar, it uses heat and steam - not chemicals - to improve stability and resistance to decay. A combination of sustainability, performance, and natural timber aesthetics.

Excited to see this Havelock North development continue to progress alongside TUMU Group.

Things are moving along nicely at our 6-unit Willowpark Road development - in partnership with TUMU Group 🏗️

Earlier last week saw the delivery of the Carters Building Supplies first floor frames for the roadside units, with more steady progress continuing onsite each day.

Good to see this development continuing to move forward.

We’re proud to welcome Kopiri to the PGC team as one of our newest apprentices 👷‍♂️

Born and raised in Hawke’s Bay, Kopiri is new to PGC - but not a stranger. After completing work experience with us earlier this year, he’s now back to start his building apprenticeship.

Kopiri completed his pre-trade in carpentry through EIT Hawke's Bay and has always had a strong interest in construction. His goal is to one day return to his family land in Waikaremoana or Ākitio and build a home for his future family - a place to relax and call his own.

He’s loving being on site so far, saying PGC has a great vibe, with a welcoming team and friendly people. Kopiri is currently based on one of our Havelock North sites, and it’s great to have him there.

We’re looking forward to supporting Kopiri through his apprenticeship and having him grow with the team.

Today we recognised Pink Shirt Day Aotearoa across our sites.

The team got involved with pink shirts, cupcakes from Sugar On Top, and conversations around what Pink Shirt Day stands for - creating workplaces where people look out for each other, support one another, and help foster a positive culture across our sites and teams.

Pink Shirt Day is a Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand campaign with this year’s kaupapa: Kōrero Mai, Kōrero Atu, Mauri Tū, Mauri Ora | Speak Up, Stand Together, Stop Bullying.

Construction is built on teamwork, and that means creating a culture where everyone feels supported both on and off site.

Great to also have the TUMU Group team joining in with us today 👷‍♂️👷‍♀️💗

PGC has recently kicked off construction at Willowpark Road - a 6-unit development in partnership with TUMU Group. Progress is already well underway, with last week seeing the delivery of the Carters Building Supplies ground floor frames for the rear units, coordinated onsite by Hawke's Bay Crane & Platform Hire 🚧🏗️

Great to see the project taking shape, with the build continuing to progress quickly on site. We’re looking forward to sharing more updates as the development comes together.

We’re proud to welcome Ariana to the PGC team as one of our newest apprentices 👷‍♀️

Ariana is in her second year of her building apprenticeship and has joined us to continue her journey. Hawke’s Bay born and raised, she grew up in Lake Waikaremoana and is passionate about one day being part of positive change in the Wairoa community

Her drive comes from her three daughters, who inspire her to build a strong, secure future. Ariana completed her pre-trade at EIT in 2023, earning Top Student, and previously achieved her Level 3 Certificate, where she was awarded the Wāhine Toa Award - both reflections of her dedication and work ethic.

She’s hit the ground running on our new build, enjoying the opportunity to gain experience on commercial sites and being part of the PGC team. When asked what she enjoys most about being on site, her answer was simple: she just loves working, connecting with the team, and being part of the crew.

We’re excited to support Ariana through the rest of her apprenticeship and have her as part of the PGC whānau.
